Mr. Robert W. Schumaker

Lorain- Robert W. Schumaker, 88, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2011 in Lorain, OH.

Robert was born on June 13, 1923 in Cleveland, OH to his loving parents, Pearl and Peter Schumaker.

He graduated from Lorain High School and worked as a Merchant Marine for Wilson Inc. on the ore boats on the Great Lakes from 1941 to 1942. From 1942 to 1943 he worked at Lake Terminal on the railroad. He was enlisted in the U.S. Army on March 3, 1943 with the Infantry-Lightning Division and was honorably discharged on December 12, 1945. He returned home and worked for U.S.S. Steel Mill in Lorain, OH as a Rigger for 38 years, retiring in 1985. On August 21, 1953 he was married to Laura J. (nee: Moody) in Lorain, OH and raised three children together, Susan, Nancy and David. He enjoyed gardening, building model airplanes and his loyal dogs.    

He is survived by children Susan (Mark) Boyle of Lorain, OH, Nancy (Paul) Wise of Woodstock, GA and David (Gail) Schumaker of Lorain, OH; grandchildren, Kimberly and Katie Farlow, April Schill and Donnie Tyman; and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Laura J. Schumaker; parents, Pearl and Peter Schumaker; and brother-in-law, Ted Moody.

Mr. Albert Geno Innocenti

Amherst- Albert Al Geno Innocenti, 93, was called home on Monday, June 13, 2011 surrounded by his beloved family.

Al was born in Broughton, PA on June 14, 1917 to his loving parents, Ralphael and Catherine (nee: Fior) Innocenti. He  graduated from Brentwood High School, Class of 1936, where he excelled in soccer and golf.  Al entered into the U.S. Navy in 1945 and served honorably in the Ship Repair Unit, SRV. He came to Ohio in 1940 and worked as a Master Pattern Maker in Elyria, Cleveland and Avon, OH until his retirement. Al was very proud of his garden and was an avid golfer and bowler. He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Church where he was a member of the Holy Name Society. Al was also a lifetime member of the Italian American Veterans Post #1.

Al is survived by his wife of 66 years, Katherine Kay (nee: Milovich); sons, Ralph (Cathy) Innocenti and Carl (Leslie) Innocenti; daughters, Karen (Michael) Super and Diana (Clark) Shaffer; grandchildren, Jean (Tim) Olney, Mark (Tina) Innocenti and Amanda Kay Shaffer; great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Kylie, Madelyn and Isabelle.

Besides his parents, Al was preceded in death by his daughter, Elaine in 1966; brother, Elmer; and sister, Margaret Schlata.

Albert G. Graziano

Lorain- Albert G. Graziano, 82, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Summit Point Independent Living in Macedonia, OH.

Albert was born in Lorain, OH on May 18, 1929 to his parents, Giuseppe G. and Antoinette (nee: Delfino) Graziano. He was raised in Lorain and graduated from Lorain High School in 1947. Albert worked at Ford as a Tool Grinder from 1948-1951 and 1953-1968. In January 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany as a Radio Operator, he returned home for a short time and married, Elizabeth (nee: Gailey) on May 11, 1951 and was honorably discharged in January 1953. Albert returned to school and graduated with a B.A. from Fenn College in 1962. He worked at Merrill Lynch as an Account Executive from 1968-1978 and he worked at Mid-Ohio Securities from 1978-2005. Albert enjoyed reading and philosophy and he loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Graziano; daughter, Nora (Rolf) Ahrens of Macedonia, OH; sons, Dominick (Susan) Graziano of Tampa, FL and David Graziano of Lorain, OH; brother, Frank Graziano of Lorain, OH; sisters, Phyllis Maselli of Lorain, OH and Marie Forthofer of Plymouth, MI; and grandchildren, Sara, Christopher, Leigh, Alexander and Alyssa.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dominick and Joseph Graziano; and sister, Francis Metzger.

Mr. John McBennett Jr.

John McBennett, Jr., (aka Red or Mac), 76, died Thursday, June 09, 2011, after struggling with COPD for several years.

 
He is survived by his loving children, Joan (Bruce) Drazen, Cleveland, OH and J. Brian, Pittsburgh, PA.; and his former wife, Nancy, with whom he resided; he was the proud grandfather of Shelby Drazen, J. Andrew Andy and Shaun McBennett, Clearwater, FL; sisters, Catherine (Bill) Beier, Norwalk, OH and Sarah McBennett, S. Carolina; brothers, Patrick (Carol), Birmingham, OH. and James (Martha) of S. Carolina; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Sarah McBennett; sisters, Mary Ann Schroeder and Charlotte Loder.  

 

John was born and raised in Lorain, Ohio. He served in Germany with the US Army during the Berlin Wall Crisis in 1960. After the service John became a car salesman and later sold home improvements.  His favorite pastimes were reading spy novels and watching reruns of Law and Order.

Lorain- Albert J. Caruso Jr., 60, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, OH.

Albert was born in Lorain, OH on August 31, 1950 to his loving parents, Albert and Helen (nee: Garro) Caruso.

Albert was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish in Lorain, OH. He graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1969. He worked for U.S. Kobe Steel in Lorain, OH and retired in 1999 after 30 years. In 2002, Albert moved to Las Vegas to follow his dream and love of sports working in a casino as a sports book ticket writer and moved back to Lorain to be closer to his family during his illness.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Judy (nee:Melendez) Caruso; daughter, Adel; mother, Helen R. Caruso; and brother, Robert Caruso.

He is preceded in death by his father, Albert J. Caruso Sr. in 2004.

Lorain- Peter Leander Martinek, 93, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2011 at Diplomat Healthcare Facility in North Royalton, OH with caring services provided by Hospice of the Western Reserve.

Peter was born on May 30, 1917 in Lorain, OH to his loving parents, Frank and Mary (nee: Krupyak) Martinek.

Peter was a member of St. Peter Church in Lorain, OH. He graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1935. He honorably served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. His professional life was spent as a salesman.

He is survived by his son, Steven (Patricia) Martinek; grandchildren, Michael, Mary and Jacqueline Martinek; and brother, John J. Martinek.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; parents, Frank and Mary; sisters, Barbara, Katherine, Theresa, Pauline and Magdalene Martinek; and brothers, Anthony, Joseph, Richard and Theodore Martinek.

Mr. Silvio J. Moro

Elyria-Silvio J. Moro, 87, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2011, at The Avenue at Towne Center, Avon Lake, Ohio.

Mr. Moro was born in Lorain, Ohio on February 24, 1924 and was a life long resident, eventually residing in Elyria, Ohio. He attended Clearview High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was self employed in the trucking business for more than 25 years. Mr. Moro was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Church in Elyria, Ohio. He enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and socializing with friends.

He is survived by 3 nephews, John E. of Lancaster, California, Richard A. of Dublin, Ohio, and Dennis L. of Lorain, Ohio; a great-nephew, John R.; a great nice, Angela M.; and 3 great-great nieces, Hailey B., Madison E. and Caitlyn M.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Angelina (nee Sivrini) Moro; his wife, Margaret; son, Michael; and brother, Theodore Moro.

Mrs. Phyllis "Jean" Wisenbaler

Lorain- Phyllis Jean Wisenbaler, 79, passed away on May 17, 2011.  Jean was born on July 2, 1931 in Fairmont, WV. 

She was a resident of Lorain for over 30 years.  Jean was a homemaker and loved traveling, especially her monthly bus trips.  She was also an avid bingo player and enjoyed completing crossword puzzles.  Jean loved being around her friends and family.

She is survived by one sister, Charlene Forguer of West Virginia.  She spent most of her time with her niece, Shannon Herron whom she referred to as her daughter and her husband, Dallas; nephews, Bryan Wisenbaler (fiancée Brittany) and Dustin Wisenbaler (fiancée Megan); brother-in-law, William Wisenbaler; sister-in-law, Tammy Wisenbaler; several nieces and nephews including Cathy Furr, Jackie Reynolds, Michael Carney and Jimmy Carney; as well as several great nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Louise Carney of Fairmont WV; her brother, Robert Carney of Elyria, OH; and her beloved husband, Russell Wisenbaler of over 40 years. She is missed by many and loved by more.  She will always be in our hearts.

Mrs. Glenna Collett

Lorain- Glenna (nee: Goble) Collett, 60, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Specialty Hospital of Lorain in Amherst, OH.

Glenna was born in Emma, KY on May 24, 1950 to her loving parents, Everett and Ada (nee: Baker) Goble and moved to Lorain, OH as a child.

She attended Clearview High School and married Darryl Collett on August 10, 1982. Glenna was a proud homemaker and mother. She raised nine children and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading her bible and listening to her Christian music.

She is survived by her husband, Darryl Lee Collett; daughters, Angie (Frank) Uphold, Netta (Eugene) McCoy, Chandra Nibert, Melissa (Ondre) Recznik, Sarah Collett and Becca (Jamie) Bennett; sons, William (Tina) Goble, Terry Goble, Darryl Collett Jr. and Jovito Cirilo; sisters, Vonda, Wanda, Alma, Debra and Crystal; brothers, Kenneth and George; twenty three grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Everett Goble and two infant children, Cassandra and George.

Mr. Theodore H. Moody

Amherst - Theodore Ted H. Moody, 86, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Lake Pointe Health Center, Lorain.

Ted was born in Lorain, Ohio on September 11, 1925. He graduated from Lorain High School in 1946 after serving two years in the U.S. Army. He served in World War II from 1943 to 1945 where he received a Purple Heart. Ted married Virginia DiPasquale on March 2, 1957. He worked as an electrician at Ford Motor Company in Lorain for 30 years. Ted enjoyed visiting flea markets, completing crossword puzzles, and taking road trips.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years of marriage, Virginia Moody; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Robert Schumaker, Marino, Marge, Steve and Viola DiFrancesco; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Fayona Moody (nee: Nutter); sister, Laura Schumaker (nee: Moody).
