Thomas P. Surace

Lorain- Thomas P. Surace, 96, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain, OH.

Thomas was born in Lorain, OH on April 28, 1915 to his loving parents, Dominic and Fravia Surace. He spent most of his life in Lorain, OH and some of his young adulthood in Sheffield Lake, OH. Thomas was married in Covington, KY to his beloved wife Rose Grace (nee:Matera) on November 22, 1939.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst and a member of the 14th Street Gang. Thomas was employed for many years as a laborer at American Shipyards and Docks. He loved all sports and enjoyed wood carving.

He is survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years of marriage, Rose Grace Surace; parents, Dominic and Fravia Surace; sister, Nancy Leonello; and brothers Louis, Anthony, Dominic Jr. and James Surace.

The family will receive friends at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst, OH on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst, OH, Rev. Lawrence Martello, Pastor, officiating. Christian entombment services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain, OH. Lorain- Luisa Burgos (nee: Quinones), 79, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2011 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, OH.

                                               

Luisa was born in Puerto Rico on February 1, 1932 to her parents, Bartolo and Mercedes (nee:Bauza) Quinones.

 

Luisa is survived by her children, Hector (Gladys) Burgos, Maria (Ralph) Mendoza, Wilfredo (Anna) Burgos, Luisa Burgos, Peter (Betsy) Burgos and Janet Gioffre; sisters, Ana and Luz Quinones; brothers, Ruben, Alben and Pete Quinones; 14 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

 

Luisa is preceded in death by her husband, Pedro G. Burgos.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM, Monday, September 5, 2011 at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Ave., Lorain, OH, Fr. William Thaden, Pastor, officiating. Mr. Arthur David Tolley

Lorain- Arthur David Tolley, 60, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at New Life Hospice of St. Joseph in Lorain, OH.


Arthur was born on May 4, 1951 to his loving parents, William Amos and Aileen Dorothy (Starkey) Tolley. He attended Lorain High School and was married on May 12, 1969 to his loving wife, Lydia Marie (nee: Alicea). Arthur worked for RAK Corrosion Control as an Industrial Painter. He enjoyed restoring classic muscle cars, fishing and hunting. 


He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years of marriage, Lydia Marie Tolley of Lorain; daughters, Adele Rodriguez of Lorain and Kristian Cabrera of Lorain; sons, Arthur Amos of Rangely, CO and Edward Robert of Junction City, KS; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; mother, Aileen Tolley of Rangely, CO; sister, Aileen Moore of Rangely, CO; brothers, William of Alaska and Samuel, Frank and Mark of Rangely, CO.


He was preceded in death by his father, William Amos Tolley; and brothers, Edward R. and Patrick Tolley.

Lorain- Sandra J. Kulick (nee:Williams), 71, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2011 at her home.

Sandra was born on November 10, 1939 and was a life long resident of Lorain, OH. She graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1958-B and she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lorain, OH.


She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Phillip G. Kulick; daughters, Dawn L. Green, Deborah L. Wright and Denise L. Durnell of Lorain, OH; son, Dale L. Kulick of Lorain, OH; grandchildren, Stephanie (Daniel) Hembree of Kentucky, Jeffrey (Trish) Yenni of Lorain, OH and Christopher Fisher of Lorain, OH; and great grandchildren, Austin and Alyjah Rivera of Kentucky, Matthew Messer of Lorain, OH and Alexis and Jayden Yenni of Lorain, OH.

Lorain- Helen N. (nee: DeLuca)Caruso, 99, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2011 at Anchor Lodge in Lorain, OH.

 

Helen was born on January 31, 1912 to her loving parents, Luigi and Maria (nee: Montasanti) DeLuca in Lorain, OH, where she was raised and resided.

 

She attended Lorain High School and married Frank Caruso, raising two sons together. She was a member of St. Peter Church, Lorain Senior Citizens and A.A.R.P.

 

She is survived by her sons, Ronald (Joyce-deceased) Caruso and Gerald (Maurita-deceased) Caruso; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Luigi and Maria DeLuca; her husband of 55 years of marriage, Frank Caruso; and sisters,Christina Petro, Carmella Caserta, Susie Ermi, Jean Caruso, Molly Christini, Louise Dimachia and Emma D. Fox.

Lorain- August Tony Argenti, 79, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at New Life Hospice of St. Joseph in Lorain, OH.

 

August was born on September 21, 1931 to his loving parents, August and Grace (nee: Covelli) in Filbert, PA.

 

He moved to Lorain in 1948 and later entered into the U.S. Army in 1952, serving time in Korea as a medic and he was honorably discharged in 1954. August was married on May 25, 1957 to Eleanor J. (nee: Tocchi). He worked for Ford Motor Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Peter Church and he was a member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus #637 in Lorain, OH. August was an avid golfer and bowler, played softball in his early years, coached CYO football and he enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Ohio State Buckeyes with his family and friends.

 

He is survived by his wife of 54 years of marriage, Eleanor J. Argenti; daughters, Karen Argenti, Diane Long and Elizabeth Lengyel; son, Mark Argenti; grandchildren, Tara Rayl, Craig Argenti, Staci Cloen, Taylor Garra and Kevin Cloen; great grandchildren, Alicia Rayl, Kailee Rayl and Bentley Donaldson; brother, William (Enis) Argenti; and sister-in-law, Emma Stransky.      

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Peter and Ben Argenti; and sisters, Francis Sobek, Nellie Tillman and Sarah Lake.

Mrs. Therese H. Vaughn

Lorain- Therese H. Vaughn (nee: Braleski), 93, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2011 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain, OH after a three month illness.

Therese was born on October 2, 1917 in Lorain, OH to her loving parents, Alex and Pauline (nee: Rutkowski) Braleski and was a lifelong resident of Lorain.

She was a lifelong member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Lorain, OH where she attended grade school. She graduated from Lorain High School. She worked for Culbertson/MacGregor Insurance Agency in Lorain, OH for ten years and at the former Lorain Products retiring at the age of 63. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia DiLuciano of Lorain, OH and Sylvia (Ron) Stumphauzer of St. Marys, OH; brothers, Lloyd Braleski of San Diego, CA and Larry Braleski of Lorain, OH; sisters, Mary Malick and Angeline (Edward) Prosak, both of Lorain, OH; 7 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Edward; parents, Alex and Pauline Braleski; brother, Henry Braleski; great-granddaughter, Maria DiLuciano; and son-in-law, Donald DiLuciano, Sr.

Lorain- George A. Pena, 54, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, OH.

George was born September 4, 1956 in Lorain, OH to his loving parents, George G. and Dolores R. Lola (nee: Garcia) Pena. 

George graduated from Lorain Catholic High School, Class of 1974. Following graduation he went to work for Ford Motor Company for 35 years. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua, Local UAW, Croation Club, Elks Club and Amvets Post 47. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching professional sports with family and friends, playing golf and George loved watching his son and grandchildren play sports. He was married on September 26, 2009 to Laura (nee: McLellan). 

He is survived by his wife, Laura Pena; son, George R. (Krista); mother, Dolores R. Lola Pena; sister, Lori Banes; grandchildren, George Brenton and Kylie Pena; niece, Brittney Banes; nephew, Brandon Banes; his buddy, Daisy; extended family and friends.  

He is preceded in death by his father George G. Pena on June 14, 2009.

Mr. Augustine "Augie" Piscione



Lorain- Augustine Augie D. Piscione, 84, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2011.

He was born on August 14, 1926 in Lorain, OH to his loving parents, Enrico and Raffaela Piscione.

Augie was a lifetime resident of Lorain, OH and attended Clearview High School. At the age of 16, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII, serving as a Fireman 1st Class on the U.S.S. Badoeng Strait, serving 30 months on Guadalcanal and Solomon Islands in the Pacific Theater. He was recalled to serve for the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged July 27, 1951. Augie married, Theresa (nee: Iwanski) on August 14, 1948, raised three children together and was proudly married for 62 years.  He was an independent, self employed truck driver, retiring at the age of 73, after 50 years of driving. He was a lifetime member of the Italian American Veterans Post 1 in Lorain, OH, Amvets Post 32 in Elyria, OH and VFW Post 451 in Lorain, OH. He was a member of Nativity B.V.M. Parish in Lorain, OH. Throughout his life, Augie enjoyed bowling, roller skating, playing cards, spending time with his grandchildren and in recent years spending time with his great grandchildren. There was never a dull moment when Augie was around with his genuine, down to earth personality. He always made time for anyone and made the times as memorable as it could be. A cup of coffee and a doughnut would set the pace for the start of his day.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Theresa Piscione; daughter, Linda Carucci; sons, Richard (Sherry) and Michael (Suzanne) Piscione; grandchildren, Nicole, Ryan, Chad, Shane, David, Michael and Nicolas; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Yolanda Argenti; and brother, Vito.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alex, Albert, Victor and Armand; sisters, Helen Yerico and Genievieve Tait; and great-grandson, Armand Piscione.
