Mrs. Rose M. Naelitz

Lorain- Eurosia "Rose" (nee: Ianni) Naelitz, 85, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2013 at Amherst Manor in Lorain, OH.

Born in Lorain on May 25, 1928, Rose was raised in Lorain and had resided in Sheffield Lake, Sheffield Village and most recently in Amherst at Amherst Manor. She graduated from Lorain High School in 1946B, excelling in stenography. Rose married Daniel J. Naelitz, Jr. on June 5, 1948 at St. Peter's Church, Lorain.

Rose was the oldest "Ianni Girl", the five sisters being known for their beautiful eyes and sparkling personalities. She worked as a teen in Muir's drugstore and was remembered there for matching the shade of her nail polish to her sweaters.  Rose was a cashier at A&P, Kroger, and Fisher's during the 1950's & 1960's. She loved this type of work; plenty of math and the opportunity to meet many people.

Rose worked as a collector at H.D. Sloan from 1968-1972, winning many prizes for being top collector due to her kind and compassionate style of bill collecting.  With her first bonus of $50, Rose purchased her daughter Annette's first sewing machine.

An avid vintage collector of all things beautiful and delicate; Rose enjoyed running her own garage sales steadily in the 90's, and helping her sister Clara at JAYMAR Trading Post in Lorain. In her younger years, she modeled for Rosa Bee's and Style Center. Rose took pride in being 5'10" and loved fashion.  Especially in the 1940's, and throughout her married life, she and her husband struck quite a figure as Rose was a tall, dark-haired beauty and Dan was a 6'2" handsome blonde.

Rose excelled at baking and cooking, having mastered every type of ethnic food.  In addition to her Italian upbringing, Rose prepared fabulous chicken paprikash, stuffed cabbage, nut roll, and even homemade chop suey.  Her lemon meringue and banana cream pies will always be the favorites of her nephews, Patrick and Kevin Riley.  Breading up and frying the fresh perch her husband and son Danny caught was another delicacy that Rose mastered.  She also made homemade bread and pastries nearly everyday of her married life.

If given the choice, Rose enjoyed chinese food, the movie "ET", and the singer Meatloaf.

She was one of the first women in the Lorain area to undergo rhinoplasty back in 1960.  Rose was proud of the fact that the successful outcome of having her "nose done" inspired and encouraged many women to do the same.

A current member of St. Mary's Parish, Lorain, Rose also had belonged to St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, Sheffield Lake; St. John's Parish, Lorain; and St. Teresa's Parish, Sheffield Village.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Daniel J. Naelitz, Jr. in 1998 and her parents, Emidio and Domencia (nee: Fiorvanti) Ianni.

Rose will be missed deeply by her son Daniel J. (Terra) Naelitz, III, and her daughter Annette (Joseph) Corrao, both of Lorain.  Her sisters Gina Atanasoff of Columbus, Mary M. Riley and Vincy Nagy, both of Amherst, and Clara James, of Lorain and sister-in-law of 66 years, June Naelitz of Avon and cousin Eleanor (nee: DeSantis) DiLuciano. Grandchildren Brandy Rose Sullivan, Daniel Jason Naelitz, Michelle, Amber, and Vincent Naelitz, and Vanessa Isler, great-grandchildren Iris Richter, Aaron Elliott, Braedon and Noah Naelitz, Lauren Sullivan, Zoey Isler and great-great-grandsons Nathan and Liam Richter.

Nephews Patrick Riley, Kevin Riley, Matthew James, David and Mark Atansoff, and Bobby Nagy. Nieces Jeanne Tishma, Athena Scrofano, Kathleen Shadley, goddaughter Gerri Ann Stomps, Mary Jo Balk, Jeanne Fulton, Helen Nagy, and Gina Nagy-Burns, and many great nieces and nephews.

Rose and her family would like to express a special thanks to the staff at Amherst Manor for their kind care, especially Lexi, Anna, Carla, Chris, Lindsay, Tabitha and roommate Margaret Johnson.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961 on Sunday, July 14, 2013 from 2:00 to 7:00 PM.
