Mr. Dale Edward Nau

Lorain- Dale Edward Nau, 79, passed away after a brief illness on Monday, September 22, 2014 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain, OH surrounded by his loving family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of  37 years of marriage, Patricia (nee: Fenelon) Nau; parents, William Jr. and Matilda (nee: Emerick) Nau; sisters, Dorothy Enz and Beverly Stempowski; brothers, William, Bob, Ed and Ron Nau.

He is survived by his loving children, David (Juli) Nau of Elyria, Kevin Nau of Cuyahoga Falls and Stephanie Nau of Lorain; cherished granddaughter, Jessica Nau; brother, Carl (June) Nau of Elyria; sisters-in-law, Ann Nau, JoAnne Nau, Lois Nau, Betty Fenelon and Maureen Comfort and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dale was born on August 31, 1935 in Lorain, Ohio. He graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1954. Dale enlisted in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged following his service. Dale served in the Army with Elvis Presley and was involved in the production of and appeared in the movie "G.I. Blues". He married his beloved wife, Patricia on July 1, 1966 and they raised three children together. Dale worked at Ford Motor Co. Lorain Assembly Plant for 43 years in general stores as a purchaser. He was a member of St. Peter Church in Lorain. Dale enjoyed maintaining his yard and home along with feeding the birds and squirrels. He was generous and caring to all those with whom he came in contact. He also immensely enjoyed spending time with and spoiling his grand-dogs.

Mrs. Audrey G. McDermott

Lorain- Audrey G. McDermott, 86, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Autumn Aegis Nursing Home in Lorain, OH.

She was born on July 4, 1927 in Lorain, OH. Audrey graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1946B.  She married Robert McDermott on July 22, 1950 and together they owned and operated McDermott's Bed and Breakfast in Saranac Lake, NY before returning to Lorain. Upon returning to the area Audrey worked at Kenco Pump in Lorain, Oberlin Public Library and Lorain City Schools. Following retirement, Audrey and her husband, Robert enjoyed spending their winters at Saddlebrook Resort, Tampa, FL and traveling throughout Europe.

She is survived by sisters-in-law, Ruth Smith of Lorain, OH, Elizabeth Hahansch of Dayton, OH and Carolyn Hiss of Ann Arbor, MI; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Robert William McDermott on January 4, 2014; her parents, Anthony and Julia (nee: Kurowski) Pawlizak; and brother, Donald Pawlizak.

Private services will be held at a later date with Christian burial services at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp., OH.  Arrangements and services by Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Lorain (440) 244-1961. Lorain- Marcella "Toots" Dailey, 88, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain surrounded by her loving family.

 She was born on February 16, 1926 in Masury, OH. Toots graduated from Clearview High School, Class of 1943. She was a homemaker raising her three loving children. Toots was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Marian Guild and the Senior Citizens Center in Lorain. She was an avid reader, bowler and baker. Her greatest love was spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Barbara (Raymond) Costello, Susuan Dailey and Donald Dailey all of Lorain; grandchildren, Lynn Kovello and Jeffrey (Cindy) Costello; great grandchildren, Collin, Hannah, Victoria and Jacob; siblings, Benedito (Beatrice) Johns and Marian (Lou) Artidiello; and many loving family and friends.

 She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Donald Dailey in 1988; parents, Louis and Mary Johns; brother, Ralph Johns.

Mr. Harold G. Gunderson Jr

Elyria- Harold G. "Harry" Gunderson Jr., 84, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

One of twelve children, he was born on June 1, 1930 in Whitehall, Wisconsin. Harry enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving for 22 years as a Gunners Mate 1st Class. He lived in Kearny, AZ following his honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy from 1968 until 1982 and moved to Elyria from 1982 until 2014. Harry was later employed by Elyria Schools as a mechanic. He enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians, and working on his lawnmowers and cars.

He is survived by his children, Tamra (Mike) King, Harold G. Gunderson III, Anthony, Rory, Kirk (Kim) and Scotty Layberger; siblings, Jim, Bruce and Barbara Gunderson; grandchildren, Hilary, Trisha, Kathryn, Lora and Byron; great grandchildren; and several family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma L. (nee:Woods) Gunderson; parents, Harold G. Sr and Hannah M. (nee:Olson) Gunderson; siblings, Gordon, Floyd, Robert, Walter, Helen, Curly, Mary Jean and Larry Gunderson.

Mrs. Julia "Judy" Oravec

Sheffield Lake- Julia (nee:Furjes) Oravec, 89, a resident of Sheffield Lake for 68 years, passed away on Friday evening, September 5, 2014 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Julia was born on March 1, 1925 in Cleveland, OH. Julia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She loved spending time with all of her family at family get togethers. She enjoyed fishing, gambling trips, campfires, music and bowling to the age of 79. She was also an avid Cleveland sports fan. She was a member of VFW Post 451, Moose Lodge 552 and Amvets Post 55. Survivors include her daughters, Judy (Ken) Sexton, Cathy (Tim-deceased) Smith, Diane (Bob) Ulichney, Carrie (David) Falatic; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; brother, Louis Furjes; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Oravec in 1992; her mother, Julia Kaczmak; father, Steve Furjes; step-dad, Jack Kaczmak; brothers, Steve and Joseph Furjes; and son-in-laws, James Kelly and Timothy Smith.

Dorothy "Dotty" Six

Dorothy "Dotty" Jean Six (nee: Lorence), 74 years of age, a resident of Elyria, OH passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 after a long illness. Dorothy was born in Lorain, OH, on November 27, 1940, to the late Albert and Rhoda Lorence. Dorothy graduated from Lorain High School. Dorothy enjoyed travels which included the United States, Canada and Europe. Her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother, caring for her family.

Survivors include her son, David Six, of Sheffield Lake, OH; daughter, Jody Six of Elyria, OH; six grandchildren; sisters, Jane Vanderpool of Amherst, OH and Nancy Lorence of Lorain, OH; and brother, Allen Lorence of Lagrange, OH.

She was preceded in death by her mother and granddaughter, Margaret.

Dorothy found joy in and through her grandchildren (Shawn, Aaron, Kathryn, Samantha, Kristopher and Mathew). She had grand plans for all of them for their lives and wished them much happiness.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date, with Pastor Janet A. Long, Senior Pastor, officiating. Mr. Ignatius Gonzales


Sheffield Village- Mr. Ignatius Gonzales, 78, passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 surrounded by his beloved wife, Carol and his loving family.

Ignatius was born on September 23, 1935 in Lorain, OH to his loving parents, Jesus and Theresa (nee: Moreno) Gonzalez. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp in 1954, serving on the USS Tarawa and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sgt. in 1957. Ignatius married his beloved, Carol (nee:Reed) on June 5, 1957. He worked at U.S. Steel in the paint department and retired after 33 years of employment. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua in Lorain. His family was his total interest and his love of Christ took precedence over all. He enjoyed taking care of his home and yard and loved watching the Ohio State Buckeyes, Browns and Indians.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years of marriage, Carol Gonzales of Sheffield Village; daughters, Carol (Richard) Phillips of Sheffield Village, Corrinne (Chris) Zvosec of Oberlin, Karen Counts of Lorain, and Kathleen Gonzales of Sheffield Village;  sons, David (Mary) Gonzales of Lorain, and Michael Gonzales of Sheffield Lake; 19 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, sisters, Mary Jones, and Teresa Bodjo; and brothers, Fred, Arthur and Ray Gonzales.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Theresa Gonzalez; sister, Chava (Genero) Ybarra; brothers, Jose (Delores), Jesse (Josephine), and Manuel (Anna) Gonzales.

Mrs. Evelyn M. Kattas

Lorain- Evelyn M. Kattas (nee:Gavigan), 86, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain.

Evelyn was born on May 7, 1928 in Cleveland, OH and moved to Lorain at the age 27. She married Edmond Kattas on September 18, 1955, and they raised three daughters together.

Evelyn worked at Pizza Hut in Lorain as a waitress for ten years and volunteered at Community Regional Medical Center. She was a member of the Church of the Redeemer and a social member of the IAV. Evelyn enjoyed gambling, casino trips, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Edmond Kattas of Lorain; daughters, Kathy Kattas of Lorain, Nancy Ciccarelli of Plant City, FL and Sandy Jacovetti of North Olmsted; and grandchildren, Daniel Szabo, Kristen Jacovetti, Stacey Jacovetti, and Sarah Lash; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Bridget (nee: Kreavec) Gavigan.

Mr. William "Billy" Kishman

Lorain- William "Billy" Kishman, age 67, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 after suffering from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). He  was under  the care of the Crossroads Hospice program.

He was born in New York City, NY on October 29, 1946 to Dr. William E. and Alice Kishman.

Billy was a member of St. Mary Church in Lorain, OH.  He retired from CenturyTel in 2012 after 37 years as a lineman. Billy served six years in the Army National Guard. He was a 1965 graduate of Lorain High School, Lorain, OH. He served as Vice President of his Senior Class and was a newspaper reporter. Billy was a member of the National Honor Society and voted best all around. Athletics was Billy's passion. Football, Quarterback, Safety, 1961-1969;  Basketball, Guard, 1961-1965; Baseball, 2nd Base, Shortstop, 1964-1965; Colorado State University (CSU) Lettermen's Club 1966-1970; he was voted the CSU's Golden Helmet Award by his teammates.  Honors:  Best All-Around, All-Buckeye Conference, Football 1st Team and 3rd Team, Honorable Mention, All-Ohio Football; All-American mention by both UPI & AP 1968; Detroit Press All-American Team 1968; East-West Shrine Game 1968; and All-American Game 1969.  He was honored with a spot on the Kodak 100 Team. Following his senior year at CSU, Billy was a high draft choice of Vince Lombardi and the Washington Redskins. In 1987, he was inducted into the Lorain Sports Hall of Fame.

His pastime was serving as coach on the Adam's Cafe football team and mentoring young athletes. He felt it was important for young members of the team to have the opportunity to play versus winning the game.  He enjoyed watching college sports, reading and spending time with his family. His family was most important to him and he took it upon himself to make sure they were always out of harm's way.

He is survived by wife, Loretta Kishman; his sons, Todd Phillips and Tad (Shelby) Phillips; grandsons, Jonathan, David and Cooper; mother, Alice (nee: Flaherty) Kishman; sisters, Patti (Dick) Doyle, Judi (Frank-deceased) Cellozzi, Debi (Chuck) Sturgill, Stephanie (Keith) Waters and Rose (Fred) Reynolds; brother, Mike (Karen) Kishman; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. William E. Kishman; paternal grandparents, Dr. Myron and Goldie Kishman; maternal grandparents, Patrick and Alice Flaherty.

Mr. Alfred Frank Todarello

Amherst- Alfred Frank Todarello, 92, passed away at Mercy New Life Hospice on Sunday, July 27, 2014.

Alfred was born on July 26, 1922 in Bovalino, Calabria, Italy to his loving parents, Eugenio and Giovannina (nee: Alleruzzo) Todarello. Alfred graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1940-B. He served in the US Navy for four years during WWII as a Motor Machinist Mate 2nd Class on landing crafts, participating in the Invasion of the Marianas Islands in the Pacific Theater and in the Invasion of Saipan and was honorably discharged in 1946. Alfred married his beloved, Bernice June (nee: Tressel) on September 3, 1947 and they raised three loving children together. He worked as a meat cutter for Polansky Meats and Wilson Meat Packing Company of Chicago, Lorain Fire Department for 6 years and later for Lorain Products Corporation for 32 � years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst, Junior Achievement Board of Directors, the 14th Street Gang "SCOA", the Senior Fellowship Club, VFW and a lifetime member of the IAV Post #1. He was a social person who enjoyed playing cards, going on cruises and family time.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Bernice June Todarello of Amherst; daughters, Jean (Fred) Farlow of Lorain and Judith (Thomas) Payne of Wyoming; brother, Albert (Connie) Todarello of Sheffield Lake; sister, Mary Dina Litkovitz of FL; grandchildren, Brian Farlow, Shawn Farlow, Michael Farlow, Tara Vanderpool, and Holly Crozier; 9 great-grandchildren; and a great great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert A. Todarello; parents, Eugenio and Giovannina Todarello; brothers, Dominic, John and Angelo Todarello; and great-grandson, Shawn Anthony Farlow.
