Frances C. Cellozzi

Lorain- Frances C. Cellozzi (nee: Jannuzzi), 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Main Street Care Center in Avon Lake, OH surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on October 22, 1922 to her loving parents, Minotti "Mike" and Cecelia (nee: Barrella) Jannuzzi and had been a lifelong resident of Lorain.

Frances graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1940 and on September 26, 1943 married her beloved, Frank Paul Cellozzi.

During the War years, she worked at The National Tube and later at Lorain Products, Higbees, and Ted Jacobs. She was a very well known local artist with many of her paintings in homes around Lorain and beyond. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, a member of the Italian American Veterans Post #1, the Lorain and Erie Shores Art Leagues. She enjoyed antiquing, running Estate sales by Frances, playing bingo and going to casinos.

She especially loved spending time with and cooking for her family. Holidays were always a special time for her, where she would be found in the kitchen baking her favorite cookies.

Frances is survived by her daughters, Anita Dwyer and Carol (Tom) Catanzarite; daughter -in-law, Judith (nee: Kishman) Cellozzi; grandchildren, Lisa (John) Melby, Nicholas Catanzarite, Seth Dwyer, Michael Dwyer, Molly (Michael) Gusler, Caren (Todd) Lewarchick, Frank Cellozzi and Ali Cellozzi; great grandchildren, Dade, Frances, Margo, Amelia, Cate, Emma Grace, Gianna and Chase; as well as wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins.   

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank; her parents, Minotti and Cecelia; son, Frank Cellozzi; infant sister, Carol Jean; sister, Connie Nickolette; and brothers, Vincent and Albert Jannuzzi.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961, on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Closing prayers will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10:20 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Fr. Craig M. Hovanec, Pastor, officiating. Private Christian burial services will be held at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst, OH at a later date. Mrs. Ann C. Solak

Lorain- Ann C. Solak (nee Bruno) 93, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, OH after a lengthy illness.

As a pillar of the Lorain community, Ann donated time to the maintenance and care of her life-long parish of St. Peter's. She was born and raised on W. 17th Street and a graduate of Lorain High in 1939.  She then began her career at Fisher Foods, which is now Giant Eagle. After raising a family, Ann and her husband, Edmund began joint careers in real estate and traveled extensively to Florida where they owned property. She was a proud mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Ann was well known, loved by many and liked by all and she will be greatly missed.   

She is survived by her daughter, Delores Griffith of Lorain, OH; granddaughter, Angela Freeman of Parma, OH;  and great granddaughter, Cydnie Barrientos.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund Solak; parents, Thomas and Christina Bruno; sister, Elvira Marlow; brothers, Dominic and Jacob Bruno.

The family will receive friends at St. Peter's Church, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, OH on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, Fr. Craig M. Mr. James M. Babinsky

Lorain- James M. Babinsky, 64, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Amherst Hospital in Amherst, OH.

James was born on May 5, 1950 in Lorain, OH. He graduated from Lorain High School in 1968. James attended Lorain County Community College along with Baldwin Wallace College receiving credentials as a machinist. James was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves from 1969 through 1975 as an E6 Staff Sergeant. He was employed as a manager for 35 years with U.S. Steel, USS/KOBE Steel and Republic Steel. James enjoyed cruising nights at Quaker Steak, car shows, drag racing at Norwalk Raceway Park, golfing, and watching the Cleveland Browns and Indians. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus (Lorain Columbian Club).

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie (nee: Pekare) Babinsky of Lorain; daughter, Jamie (Todd Angello) Babinsky of Lorain; two sons, Scott (Amy) Warner of Pittsburgh, PA; Bryan (Dianne) Warner of Cranberry, PA; brother, Dennis (Cheryl) Babinsky of Vermilion; grandchildren, Brenden Warner, Conner Warner, Taylor Warner and Camryn Warner; and many nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph J. and Pearl (nee: Plato) Babinsky; brothers, Joseph D. and Robert A. Babinsky.

Mrs. Joan E. Warner

Lorain- Joan E. (Wallace) Warner, 73, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at her son's home in Amherst, OH surrounded by her loving family.

Joan was born on February 24, 1942 to her loving parents, Phillip Vincent and Mary Agnes (nee: McMahon) Wallace in Lorain, Ohio where she was a lifelong resident.

She graduated from St. Mary's High School, Class of 1960. Joan married her beloved Dennis on January 31, 1971 and they raised two children, Joseph and Andrea. She was a homemaker and dedicated her life to her family. Joan was a lifelong member of St. Mary Church in Lorain, OH and a recent member of St. Peter Church in Lorain, OH. She had a love for miniature schnauzers, flower gardening, and bird watching.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 44 years of marriage, Dennis G. Warner; son, Joseph (Aimee) Warner of Amherst, OH; daughter, Andrea (James) Stidham of Stow, OH;sister, Mary Beth Mihalik of Amherst, OH; sister-in-laws, Catherine Wallace of Amherst, OH and Donna Wallace of Winnebago, IL; cousin, Kathleen Snyder of Lorain, OH; and her cherished grandchildren, Lauren Warner and Tyler Mullin: and Grace, Claire and Emma Stidham.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip Vincent and Mary Agnes Wallace; and brothers, James and Thomas Wallace.

Amherst- Joan Marie Morog, 64, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center in Lorain, OH.

Joan was born in Lorain, OH on January 29, 1951 to her loving parents Robert and Betty (nee: Smith) Morog and she was a lifelong Lorain County resident. She graduated from Clearview High School, Class of 1969 and following 27 years of service, she retired from PC Campana.

She had a great passion for music, playing the keyboard, the guitar and she was a gifted singer. Joan was a member of two local bands in the 1970's and 1980's. She enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes, gardening and planting flowers, sketching and painting with oils and pastels, and spending time with her cat. Joan treasured the moments shared with her grandson, Daniel.

She is survived by her daughter, Jessica (Larry) Hendricks of Fort Myers, FL; grandson, Daniel Hendricks of Fort Myers, FL; brother, Robert (Mary) Morog of Wakeman, OH; sister, Judy (Huey) Kirk of Lorain, OH; sister in law, Jennifer Morog of Lorain, OH; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Betty Morog; brother, Gerald Morog; and nephew, Josh Kirk.

Mrs. Peggy J. Hunt

Lorain- Peggy Joyce (nee: Sawyers), 79,  passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at O'Neill Healthcare in North Ridgeville, OH.

Peggy was born on March 31, 1935 in Pike County, KY to her loving parents, Roland and
Grace (nee: Phillips) Sawyers. She married her beloved husband, Carl Hunt on March 1, 1952 and they raised four daughters together, Vertis Ann, Teresa, Carlyn and Brenda. We were all blessed by her role of wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Peggy enjoyed her active Church life and traveling with family. She also enjoyed quiet time sewing, crocheting, and reading the bible.

Peggy is survived by her daughters, Vertis Ann Clements of Lorain, Teresa (Chris) Lee of Lorain, Carlyn (Timothy) Naelitz of Lorain and Brenda (Mark) Knierim of Riverview, FL; brother, Bennett Sawyers; sisters, Barbara Ann (Don) Weigl and Dorothy (Clifford) Hunt; and she was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Carl Hunt; her parents, Roland and Grace Sawyers; sister, Holly Layne; and brothers, Denver and Edmund Williams.

Mr. Arthur L. Manichl

Sheffield Lake- Arthur Louis Manichl, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, February 17th,  2015 at New Life Hospice following  a brief illness.

He was born December 19th, 1928 in Lorain Ohio and resided in Lorain most of his life, moving to Sheffield Lake in 1994.

Arthur graduated from Lorain High School in 1947. He served as a Naval Reserve and served in the United States Navy during the Korean War conflict.

Manichl was a journeyman electrician and lifelong member of the I.B.E.W. #129. He retired after 30 years as head of the Electrical Department of the city of Lorain and was a state certified electrical inspector. He taught apprenticeship classes at LCCC. Following his retirement from the city of Lorain, he became a part-time electrical inspector for Sheffield Lake, Sheffield Village and Lorain Metropolitan Housing Authority.

Manichl was a lifelong member of the Masonic Order Black River Lodge in Lorain and the Scottish Rite and 32nd degree Mason, a  member of Amvets #47, American Legion Post 30 and Lakeshore Methodist Church of Avon Lake.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling, traveling and sports. He loved his animals especially his little girl Dixie dog. Arthur enjoyed his yard work and feeding the birds.

Survivors include daughters, Becky Jo (Mark) Smith of Lorain and Lynn Ann (Doug) Price of Worthington, Ohio and three grandchildren, Tyler Smith, Casey Smith and Ian Price. He is also survived by his sisters, Vera McKlveen of Avon Lake, Rita Haladey of Fort Lauderdale, Fla and Norma Balmert of Lorain and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Betty Jean (Pontius) Manichl and parents, Agnes (Hobeck) and Louis Manichl.

Friends may call Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, OH (440) 244-1961 on Thursday, February 19, 2015 from 3:00 - 6:00 PM. A service for Arthur will be held on Thursday at 6:00 PM officiated by Reverend Nancy Mannor with a dinner following the service at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo. A private Christian Burial service with military honors by the American Legion Post 30 and VFW Post 451 will be held at a later date at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Twp, OH. Mr. Edward L. Meneely

Amherst- Edward L. Meneely, 77, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain, OH.

He was born in Canonsburg, PA on June 28, 1937.

Edward graduated from Chartiers High School in PA, Class of 1955. He went on to graduated with a Bachelor Degree from Waynesburg College in PA, Class of 1959 and later earned his Masters Degree. He moved to Lorain, OH in 1960 and taught classes at Lorain Admiral King High School and Lorain Southview High School where he was also a Counselor. He loved spending his summers at Put-In-Bay where he greatly enjoyed working, relaxing and enjoying life.

He is survived by his sisters, Vera Flick of Akron, OH, Shirley (Carl) Skerl of Carnegie, PA and his twin sister, Phyllis Lagoni of Canonsburg, PA; and several loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Pearl (nee: Campbell) Meneely; and brother, John "Jack" Meneely.

Mr. James H. Mitchell

Elyria Twp.- James "Jim" Mitchell, 76, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2015 at  O'Neill Healthcare in North Ridgeville, OH surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born in Washington, PA on August 5, 1938. He moved to Lorain as a child where he was raised and later moved to Elyria in 1963 where he resided until his passing. Jim was married on September 7, 1957 to Joan (nee: Berens) and they raised two children together, Jim and Debbie. He served in the U.S. Army, spending most of his time in Germany operating tanks from 1961 until the time of his honorable discharge in 1963 and was awarded a Marksman badge. Jim was a truck driver for over 30 years and was employed with Jefferson Trucking Company in Lorain, OH. He was a member of St. Agnes Church in Elyria, OH and the VFW. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and hunting, following the Cleveland Indians and collecting baseball sports memorabilia. He loved caring for animals and carried corn to feed the wildlife and his greatest love and joy was spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Joan Mitchell; children, Jim (Cathy) Mitchell and Debbie Mitchell; granddaughter, Lisa Schultz; brother, Kenneth (Terri) Miller Jr.; brother-in-law, Otto (Jane) Fore Jr.; and special uncle/"brother", Chuck Grimm.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Mitchell and Edna Mitchell-Miller; step-father, Kenneth Miller Sr.; and brother-in-law, Ben Berens.

Mrs. Sharon Diane Dailey

Lorain- Sharon D. (nee: Duckett) Dailey, 61, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2015 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center in Lorain, OH.

She was born on July 18, 1953 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Sharon was raised in Portsmouth, OH and later moved to Lorain, OH where she spent most of her life. She married her beloved James Dailey on April 12, 1978. She was employed at Lorain Manor as a nursing assistant and she enjoyed playing bingo.  

She is survived by her husband of over 36 years, James Dailey of Lorain; daughters, Debra (Clint) Smith of Lorain and Joyce (Chris) Linder of Lorain; son, James Dailey of Lorain; brother, James (Betty) Duckett of Portsmouth, OH; sisters, Nancy (Suvit) Arunotong of Portmouth, OH, Debra Jackson of Portsmouth, OH and Carol (Bashir) Khatib of Sandy, UT; seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ettie "Elizabeth" Duckett; and her brother, William Duckett.
