Mr. Donald E. Henry

Westlake- Donald E. Henry, 80, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2011 at St. John Medical Center in Westlake, OH.

He was born in Youngstown, OH on August 5, 1930 to his parents Thomas J. and Florence (nee: Albu) Henry.

Don graduated from Sandusky High School, Class of 1948. On June 22, 1949, he enlisted in the United States Navy and finished boot camp in September 1949. Don served his country for three years and nine months during the Korean War, spending fourteen months aboard the U.S.S. Oriskany Air Craft Carrier and was honorably discharged in March 1953. Don served two years in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, 1961 and 1962. He attended Ohio State University and graduated from Case Western Reserve in July 1972. Don retired as a private police officer for Terminal Tower and the Leader Building in Cleveland, OH. Don enjoyed police combat matches, target shooting and swimming where he was an instructor at Fairview High School and the Westshore YMCA, Westlake, OH. Don was an American Red Cross volunteer for twenty-five years and an A-Team tutor for Westlake, OH city schools.

He was a Member of the American Legion Post 211, Avon Lake, OH; VFW Post 9693, Bay Village, OH; Life member of FGBMFI, Cleveland Chapter; and a lifetime charter member of the WWII Memorial.

He is survived by his sons, Michael Mick of Cripple Creek, CO, Donald (Tammy) of Bay View, OH, David (Susan)of Sandusky, OH, Christopher (Marcy)of Sandusky, OH, and Patrick Henry of Sandusky, OH ; daughters, Cynthia (Michael) London of Sandusky, OH and Maria Henry of Sandusky, OH; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas Henry of Sandusky, OH; aunt, Ruth Jean Henry of Sandusky, OH and Louise Zimmerman of Alvin,TX; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents who both served in World War II; and his wife, Rose M. (nee: Medaglia) Henry.

Paul J. Attie

Elyria- Paul J. Attie, 82, passed away on Sunday, March, 27, 2011 at New Life Hospice, Lorain, OH.

Paul was born on March 30, 1928 in Amherst, OH to his parents, Pete and Celia (nee:Sabatia) Attie. He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Church in Elyria, American Legion Post #118 in Amherst, the Knights of Columbus Coucil #637 in Lorain and Senior Citizens in Lorain, OH. Paul owned and operated, Pauls Auto Body in Lorain for 50 years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening, traveling and restoring old cars.

He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Joyce Attie, whom he married on October 10, 1987; children, Beverly Nolden of Texas, Anneke (Dan) Loos-Brady of Sheffield Lake and Moniquel Lusk of Elyria; grandchildren, Melvin (Sandra), Melissa (John-fiance) and Michael (Sandi) Jenkins; and his sisters, Marie Robinson and Cenerma Preston; and brother, Walter (June) Attie.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Donna Jenkins; sisters, Lucille Waldecki; Eva Swartz, Esther Smink; and brother, Raphael Attie.

The family will receive friends at St. Vincent DePaul Church, 41295 N. Ridge Rd., Elyria, OH 44035 on Thursday, March, 31, 2011 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday at St. Vincent DePaul Church, Fr. James R Ols, Pastor, officiating. Margaret Peg Downing

Lorain- Margaret Peg Downing, 58, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at University Hospital, Cleveland, OH, following a long illness.

Peg was born in Lorain, OH on May 22, 1952 to her parents, Eugene and Elsie (nee:Bartos) Bailey. She graduated from Lorain High School and later from Ohio Business College with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Programming. Peg worked for General Electric for 15 years, Progressive for 10 years and Center Ridge Nursing Home for 2 years. She was a member of USBC Bowling Association, helped run Junior leagues,  JTBA, Coca-Cola Tournaments and loved watching her sons bowl. Peg loved riding her own motorcycle and was an avid bowler.


She is survived by her devoted husband of 36 years, Claude, whom she married on August 15, 1975; sons, James and Adam Downing; brothers, Steve, Randall and Maurice Bailey; and many close family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mr. Anthony C. Cocco


Lorain Anthony Cocco, 91, passed away on Friday March 25, 2011 surround by his beloved family following a brief illness.

Tony was born on January 21, 1920 in Windber, PA to the parents of Donato and Attilia (Ritelli) Cocco.

A lifelong resident of Lorain, he was a graduate of Lorain High School. He served honorably in the United States Army and was discharged as First Sergeant.   He served in World War II and fought courageously in the invasion of Europe at Normandy on Omaha Beach and at the Battle of the Bulge.

Tony worked for 43 years at US Steel, retiring as general foreman. In his spare time he worked at Zigman/Henkes as an auto mechanic.

He was a dedicated member of St. Peters Church of Lorain where he was an active volunteer and a member of the Holy Name Society. In addition to being an usher, he served on many committees and helped on numerous fund raisers. He was also a life time member of Italian American Veterans Post #1, Amvets Post #47, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1079, and he also served with Knights of Columbus #637.

Tony is survived by wife of 65 years, Mary (DeLeonardis); sons, Dennis (Jeanne) Cocco and Ronald (Linda) Cocco; daughter, Christine (David) Esser; grandchildren, Jason (Kristen) Cocco, Jonathan (Amy) Cocco, Michael Esser (Christina Westmark), Mindi (Guy) Flynn, Christopher Cocco and Amy Esser; great grandchildren, Jack, Anna and Kate Cocco,  Kadence and Aspen Esser; and many nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by Olga and Wayne Hogrefe, Lena Raymond, Dominic and Aileen DeLeonardis, Achilles and Lois DeLeonardis and Ida Walters.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George (Rose) Cocco, Thomas (Irene) Cocco and Michael (Kate) Cocco; sisters, Julie Cocco and Vera (Thomas) Hernon; sister-in-law, Clara (Louis) Dobos; and brother-in-laws, Wayne Raymond and Bud Walters.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, (440) 244-1961 on Sunday, March 27, 2011 from 4:00 8:00 PM. A rosary service will be conducted Sunday at 6:00 PM by the St. Peters Holy Name Society and St. Francis of Assisi Mission Group. Lorain- Virgie Wilson (nee:Duff), 85, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain.

Virgie was born in Manchester, KY on September 3, 1925 to her parents, Boyd and Vinie (nee:Keen) Duff.

She was a member of Victoria Baptist Church in Elyria, where she was baptized. Virgie enjoyed playing bingo and cherished her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Helen(Charles)  Bevins of Avon, OH, Essie (John) Schindler of Defiance, OH, Shirley Prieto of Tucson, AZ; eight grandchildren; nine  great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Vinie Duff; sisters, Stella Powell and Maudie Alley; and brothers, Walter, Cloyd, Johnny and George Duff.

Mr. James J Feldkamp

Lorain- James J. Feldkamp, age 84 passed away Thursday March 10, 2011 at Mercy Hospital after a short illness. He was born in Lorain, Ohio on April 17, 1926.

Jim was employed at Sears as a Division Manager for 42 years, retiring in 1988.

In his early years, Jim enjoyed playing fast pitch softball as an outstanding catcher on numerous championship teams and coaching his sons in Little League. He was an avid bowler and found pleasure in crossword puzzles, woodworking, and making dollhouses for his seven granddaughters.

Jim leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Antoinette Feldkamp (nee: Catanzarite), of 62 years;  beloved father of sons, Donald (Kathleen) Bluffton, SC., David (Peggy) Columbus, OH., Dean (Becky) Amherst, OH.; daughter, Debra (Richard) Kaplan of Elyria, OH;  devoted grandfather of Kristin (Sean) Varley, Karyn (Joseph) Matejewski, Danielle and Cory Feldkamp, Lindsay, Kylie, and Alexandra Kaplan; great-grandsons, Fergus and Ronan Varley, Samson and Oliver Matejewski; caring brother to Richard, Ronald, and Lawrence Feldkamp and Charlotte Engrish.

He was preceded in death by parents, Margaret and George; brothers, George and Gerald; and sisters, Marybelle Broadfoot, Elaine Priebe and Janet Serfozo.

Mrs. Margaret Jakab

Lorain- Margaret Jakab (nee: Toth Molnar), age 94, mother of Marge Rosso, died on Monday, February 28, 2011 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home following a long illness.

 She was born on May 8, 1916 in Cleveland, OH and has resided in Lorain since 1952. She was an active member of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, St. Ann and Blessed Virgin Society and always helped in the kitchen for all the Hungarian activities. Upon St. Ladislaus closing, Margaret became a member of St. Peter Church, Lorain. She enjoyed doing plastic needlepoint and always gave seasonal creations to residents of nursing homes and family members. Margaret also enjoyed playing bingo, listening to the Cleveland Indians baseball games, playing her many Hungarian music tapes and all the activities of her grandchildren.

 She volunteered for many years at Autumn Aegis Nursing Home and Anchor Lodge Assisted Living. In 1999, Margaret was awarded, Volunteer of the Year and received a Congressional Recognition from Sherod Brown. She was always very proud of that achievement.

 She is survived by her daughter, Marge (John) Rosso of Lorain, OH; grandson, David (Melissa) Rosso of Columbus, OH; granddaughter, Karen (Douglas) Warner of Hamilton, OH; great grandchildren, Grace, Anna and Nolan Warner; and many nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Anna (nee: Dudosh) Toth; first husband of eight years, Steve Molnar; second husband of thirty-nine years, Alex Jakab; brother, Louis Toth; and sisters, Helen Estvander, Anna Danyi and Elizabeth Toth.

Mr. Rocco DiLuciano

Lorain- Rocco Rocky DiLuciano, age 86, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2011, surrounded by his family at Amherst Manor.

 He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen (nee: Nagy) DiLuciano; daughters, Linda (Paul) Lang of Lorain, OH and Christina (Charles) Magel of LaGrange, OH; grandchildren, Robert Rocco Lang, D.V.M. of Hilliard, OH, Matthew Lang of Plano, TX; Tristan Magel of LaGrange, OH and Elaina Magel of LaGrange, OH; sisters, Mary Ann Palagyi, of Amherst, OH and Josephine Kaya of Lorain, OH; and many nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his daughter, Elaine DiLuciano in 1972; his parents, Dominico and Dominica DiLuciano; sisters, Mary Barrella, Santarella DiLuciano, Sophie Ross    and Lena Duck; and brothers, John, Ernie and Bill.

 He was a graduate of Lorain High School in 1942, a member and councilman of the former St. Vitus Church for 62 years, and recently joined St. Anthony of Padua. Rocco enjoyed bowling for U.S. Steel and also enjoyed watching his grandsons play sports and watching his granddaughter dance. Rocco was employed at U.S. Steel for 42 years and was a foreman in the pipe shop at the blast furnaces. Following retirement, Rocco was rehired as a consultant for relining and upgrading the blast furnaces. He also worked for PC Campana and American Bridge. Rocco joined the U.S. Navy during WWII. He served three years on a light cruiser, The Marblehead, with duties in the Atlantic and Mediterranean Seas. Rocco escorted American troops to Ireland, England, Africa, Brazil and Germany. He was a Petty Officer in the boiler room on the ship. Rocco was awarded an American Campaign Medal, a European African Medal, Eastern Campaign Medal with a Bronze Star and a WWII victory medal.

 The family would like to thank the third floor staff at Amherst Manor and Hospice for taking excellent care of Rocco with such compassion.

Mary was born on November 26, 1925 to Joseph and Lebbebia (nee: Monsour) George in Lorain, Ohio. Mary attended Lorain High School. She worked at U.S. Steel and retired from Lorain Products. She attended St. Anthony of Padua in Lorain, Ohio.

Mary is survived by her beloved sons, Richard Stencil of Amherst, Ohio and William (Jackie) Stencil of Avon, Ohio; loving grandchildren, Chad Stencil of Tucson, Arizona, Shawn Stencil of Avon, Ohio, Matthew (Teri) Stencil of Amherst, Ohio, Ross (Shannon) Stencil of Morris, Connecticut, Helen (Galal) Radwan of Columbus, Ohio and Dixie Stencil of Columbus, Ohio; and blessed great-grandchildren, Ethan and Blaine Stencil (children of Matthew and Teri Stencil) of Amherst, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Stencil; parents, Joseph and Lebbebia George; her brothers, Leo, Schaeffer, George and Michael; and sisters, Sophie, Elizabeth and Rose.

Mrs. Marlene Maye McCartney

Sheffield Lake- Marlene Maye (nee: Cosimeno) McCartney, 63, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at North Ridge Health Center in North Ridgeville, OH.

Marlene was born on July 31, 1947 in Rome, NY to her mother, Margaret (nee:Cosimeno) Fountain. She was raised in Rome and in 1973, moved to Rochester, NY where she lived until 1998. Marlene worked at Highland Hospital in Rochester as a supervisor in Central Supply Room for 25 years. In 1998, she moved to Elyria, OH. Marlene was married on May 29, 1999 to Gregory Mark McCartney. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Marlene enjoyed reading, playing games, collecting figurines, her dog Bammer and she adored her grandson, Gabriel.

She is survived by her loving husband of 11 years, Gregory Mark McCartney; daughter, Jessica Lynn (nee:Armstrong) and her husband, John Farsetti of Lorain; grandson, Gabriel Farsetti; sisters, Claudette Lewis, Roxanne Engert and Evelina Fountain; brother, Roger Cosimeno and William Fountain; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Fountain; sister, Anita Weber; and brother, Wilbur Fountain.

 A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 13, 2011, 4:00 PM, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 12090 South Durkee Rd, Grafton, OH, Bishop Roy Taphous, officiating.
