Lorain- Jeffrey J. "Zeke" Bernsee, 52, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012 in Lorain.
Born in Lorain on April 19, 1960 to his loving parents, Howard J. and Dorothy J. (nee: Oray) Bernsee, he was a life-long resident.
Jeff graduated from Lorain Catholic High School, Class of 1978 and attended Ohio State University and University of Dayton where he received an associate degree. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1980 and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1986. He was stationed at Grand Forks AFB in N. Dakota in the 321st Combat Support Group. While in the Missile Maintenance Squadron, Jeff received the Air Force Achievement Medal for Meritorious Service. He worked as a computer technician at BP in Cleveland for 8 years and at LEECA in Elyria as a computer network specialist for 10 years. Jeff was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, American Legion Post 30, Amvets Post 32, VFW Post 451 and Olde Town Charleston in Lorain. He enjoyed performing karaoke, camping and international traveling.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Bernsee of Lorain; sisters, Cathy (Ray) Clapper of Hinckley and Jennifer (Jerry) Morog of Lorain; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard J. Bernsee; paternal grandparents, John and Agnes Platt; maternal grandparents, Victor and Frances Oray.
Visitation at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain on Thursday, June 21, from 6-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial Friday, June 22, at 9:30 AM at St. Peter Catholic Church, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, Rev. Craig M. Hovanec, Pastor, officiating (meet at Church). Lorain- Christine Marie Hultai, 56, passed away on June 11, 2012 at Mercy Regional Medical Center.
She was born on September 20, 1955 to her loving parents, Stephen C. and Laura M. (nee: Sanders) Hultai in Lorain, OH and was a life-long resident.
Christine was a member of St. Mary Church in Lorain, graduate of Admiral King High School, Class of 1973 and she retired from Sears Hardware in Elyria. She enjoyed watching football and basketball, loved following the Cleveland Indians and cherished her four dogs.
She is survived by her sisters, Catherine L. Hultai and Laurie A. Hultai of Lorain; and loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She
was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen C. and Laura M. Hultai.

Sheffield Township- Nathan A. "Nate" Eden, 60, passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at his home.
Nate was born on July 23, 1951 in Lorain, OH to his parents Obert and Mary V. (nee: Taylor) Eden.
Nate graduated from Elyria High School, Class of 1969. He enlisted in the National Guard in November 1969 and was Honorably discharged in November 1975. He later returned to school, earning his State of Ohio Mechanics Training from LCCC in 1975. He worked with US Steel from 1970-1997, PC Campana from 2007-2012 and owned several small businesses over the years. He was a life-member at the American Legion in Wellington, OH. He enjoyed go-carts, NASCAR, working on small engines and taking care of his myriad of pets.
He is survived by his brother, Melvin Eden; children, Jennifer and Eric; grandsons, Zachary, Brett and Nick; companion, Judy Poulton; and nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary V. Eden; and sister-in-law, Karen Eden.

Amherst- Harvey Jake Strickler, 82, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, OH.
Harvey was born on August 23, 1929 in Lorain, OH where he was raised and resided most of his life before moving to Amherst, OH. He enlisted in the United States Army during WWII and was Honorably Discharged in 1948. Upon his return, Harvey joined the IBEW Local 129 and was a life-long Electrician, retiring in 1992. He supervised numerous large electrical projects throughout his career. He was a Charter Member of Amvets Post 22 in Vermilion, OH, a Life Member of VFW Post 1662 in Amherst, OH, a member of the American Legion Post 118 in Amherst, OH and a social member of the IAV Post 1 in Lorain, OH. He enjoyed playing cards, planning his family reunions and he was very proud of his home and yard.
He is survived by his fiancé, Eileen Chiaramonte of Amherst, OH; son, Kenneth L. (Joyce) Strickler of Louisville, KY; sister, Wilma Cherry of Huron, OH; grandsons, Kenneth James Strickler of Dallas, TX and Bryan David Strickler of Louisville, KY; and great-grandson, Kamden James Strickler of Dallas, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents, David Melford and Hattie (nee:Jackson) Strickler; sister, Dorothy Bronner; brothers, Claude, Jerry, David Bob and Harry Strickler.

Lorain- Rhoda A. (nee: Weech) Lorence, 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 28, 2012 at her home in Lorain, OH.
Rhoda was born on February 7, 1918 in Hagerman, Idaho to her loving parents, Joseph W. and Hester Jane (nee:Miller) Weech.
She graduated from Hagerman High School. Rhoda married her beloved husband, Albert J. Lorence in Youngstown, OH on November 20, 1937 and together they moved to Lorain, OH and raised four children; Dorothy, Jane, Nancy and Alan. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church Mothers Club and Ladies Aid. She was a Boy Scout / Girl Scout Leader and was a Sunday School Teacher at Zion Lutheran Church for 25 years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafts, cooking and stayed active with her church.
She is survived by her daughters, Dorothy J. (nee: Lorence) Six, Jane E. (nee: Lorence) Vanderpool and Nancy L. Lorence; son, Alan J. Lorence; brother, Matthew Weech of Idaho; grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, great great-grandson, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph W. and Hester Jane Weech; her husband, Albert J. Lorence; sister, Goldie (nee: Weech) Fraley; and brothers, Joseph W., Sidney L., Miles E., Charles Ernest, and Henry L. Weech.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Elmwood Cemetery,640 N. Ridge Rd., Lorain, OH 44053 (MEET AT ENTRANCE OF CEMETERY), Pastor Gary Georgi, officiating. Lorain- Rosalyn M. Rose Demyan, 93, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at her home in Lorain, OH.
Rose was born in Lorain, OH on July 27, 1918 to her loving parents, Steve and Anna (nee: Molnar) Zan and she was a lifelong resident.
She was a member of St. Peter Church in Lorain and Rose enjoyed crocheting, reading, baking and cooking.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Jodi (nee:Demyan) Juker; great-granddaughter, Hailey Juker; nieces Sherri L. Saunders, Lisa Howell, Courtney Wyatt and Brandy James; and nephews, Joseph A., Joseph E., Christopher, Michael, Gary James and Anthony Howell.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph I. Demyan Sr. in 1977; son, Joseph I. Demyan Jr. in 2002; sisters, Irma (Springowski, Csutoras), Anne Huhre(a) and Stella Barens; niece, Tonia Hunt; brothers, Charles and Steven Zan; and her parents.

South Amherst- Walter F. Szefcyk, 62, passed away suddenly on Friday, May 11, 2012 at Mercy Allen Hospital in Oberlin, OH.
Walter was born on January 16, 1950 in Amherst, OH to his loving parents, John A. and Theresa A. (nee:Sobotka) and resided in South Amherst all of his life and he enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged.
He was married to Rebecca (nee: Lauter) on April 11, 1981 and they raised two children, Catharine and Matthew.
Walter enjoyed staying active in his childrens sports and activities. He and his son participated and enjoyed being an avid fan of the AMA Pro Motorcross.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Szefcyk; children, Catharine of Lakewood, OH and Matthew Szefcyk of South Amherst, OH; brother, John A. Szefcyk of Amherst, OH; sisters, Theresa (Kenneth) Youngless of Amherst, OH and Kathleen Howard of South Amherst,OH; nieces and nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John in 1965 and Theresa in 2004;

Timothy was born on November 8, 1954 in Fernandina, FL to his loving parents, Ernest Jones Davenport and Norma Jean Woods. They moved to Lorain, OH where Timothy was raised and resided.
He enjoyed socializing with his friends at local bars and also keeping in touch with his family and friends over the phone.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ernest Tudy Davenport; and sister, Patsy Susan Sue Davenport.
He is survived by his daughters, Tammy Ray (Antonio) Davenport of Columbus, OH; Lynn Alcala of Lorain, OH; grandchildren, Bubba Ray, Antonio B, Kayleigh, Mark, Eric, Kassidy, Gabby, Reina, Roman, Toots; and sisters, Teresa Newman and Pamela Fortney.

Lorain- Connie Butrey-Todarello (nee: Sparaino), 92, entered into enternal rest on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, OH, surrounded by her loving family.
Connie was born in Lorain, OH on August 1, 1919 to her loving parents, Louis and Mary (nee:Ferraro) Sparaino. She lived most of her life in Lorain and as a small child she lived in Sicily, Italy. Connie graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1937. She was married to John Butrey in 1943 and raised three children, Barbara, Ronald and Karen. John Butrey preceded her in death in 1988. Connie married John Todarello in 1991and enjoyed 18 years together before John Todarello passed away in 2009.
She was a devout member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Lorain. Connie worked and retired from Joseph and Feiss Company as a clothing examiner. She loved her family and friends and especially spending time with her 5 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Connie also enjoyed the beauty of her yard and her flowers and loved to cook for others.
Connie is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Ken) Debo of Huron and Karen (Steve) Stohla of Alliance; son, Ronald Butrey of Avon Lake; grandchildren, Marc (Monica) Debo, Kim (Joe) Stumphauzer, Brian (Candace) Debo, Brett (Sarah) Debo and Stacy Stohla-Russell; and great-grandchildren, Andrew, Alexandra, Austin, Hannah, Dominic, Gabriel, Victoria, Brandon, Sydney, Dylan, Amelia and Alyssa.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; brother, Tony Sparaino; and sister, Mary Jo Sparaino.

Mary was born in Lorain, OH on June 16, 1923 to her parents, William and Katherine (nee: Roach) OConnor and lived in Lorain all of her life.
She was Vice-President of Lorain Tool Enterprises Inc. and retired after 25 years. Mary was a member of St. Marys Church, Womens Guild and St. Mary Circle #13. She was also a member of Lorain Quota Club.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Catherine A. Wright; her grandsons, Michael and Matthew Gammons; and many loving friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Wright; her brothers, Edward, William and Robert OConnor; and her parents.
