Frank C. Martin Jr.

Sheffield Township - Frank C. Martin Jr., 77, passed away on December 18, 2014 at University Hospital in Cleveland, OH surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on April 17, 1937 in Lorain, OH.

Frank has resided in Sheffield Township his entire life.  He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish in Lorain and St. Vincent de Paul Church in Elyria.  Frank was a 1955 graduate of Clearview High School and has been employed as a bricklayer, employed with BF Goodrich and by the Ohio Turnpike Commission throughout his years. Frank loved woodworking and restoring old furniture, he took pride in restoring his home and had a passion for gardening.

Frank leaves behind his loving wife, Mary Lora "Dee"(nee: McKnight) of Sheffield Twp., whom he married on February 22, 1958 at St. Vincent de Paul; children, Christine (Deacon Edgar) Gonzalez of Avon Lake, Jerry (Renee) Martin of Elyria, Deanne (Michael) Newman of South Amherst, Kathy Martin & Kevin Smarsh, Frank Martin of Sheffield Twp., and David (Renee) Martin of Elyria; son-in-law, Paul Ramirez of Sheffield Village; Aunt, Ann Bansek of Elyria; and grandchildren, Eddie, Jacqlynn, Jessica Gonzalez: Jerry, Joey and Jorgie Martin: Paulie and Brittney Ramirez: Jilliane and Jennifer Newman: and David and Michael Martin.

He was preceeded in death by his parents; Frank C. Sr. and Mary (nee: Skarecky) Martin; sister, Bernadette Komant and daughter, Sandra Ramirez.

There is no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 26, 2014 at 10:00 AM, at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 41295 North Ridge Road, Elyria, OH 44035, Fr. Donald H. Dunson, officiating with Frank's son-in-law, Deacon Edgar Gonzalez, assisting. A luncheon will be held immediately following the Mass at the church. Private Christian Burial services will be held at a later date at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made out to St. Vincent dePaul Church, 41295 North Ridge Road, Elyria, OH 44035 in Frank's memory.

Mrs. Bernice Krupp

Lorain- Bernice Krupp, 80, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in St. Louis, MO on July 23, 1934. Bernice married Ralph Krupp on June 30, 1956 and they raised seven children together. She was a member of the Church of St. Peter in Lorain where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, sang in the choir, was a seamstress for the clergy and supported her husband as Deacon for the Church. Bernice volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital and for Lorain Schools. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, singing, entertaining, cooking, baking and spending time with her family. 

She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years of marriage, Dr. Deacon Ralph J. Krupp; children, Mary (Martin) Pierce, Susan (Joseph) Dean, Kevin (Carolina) Krupp, Karen (Chris LoPresti) Krupp, Brenda (John) Whalen, Peter Krupp and Thomas (Robyn) Krupp; sister, MaryLou Herbst; brothers, Rev. Joseph Ryan and Dennis (Sandy) Ryan; grandchildren, Benjamin and Rebecca Anthony: Ryan and Matthew Dean: Vincent (Miranda), Cecelia, Isabella Ruta: Sean and Kara Whalen: and Gabrielle and Francesca Krupp; and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Cecilia Ryan; brother, Glenn Ryan; and sisters, Rosemary Bangert and Eileen Lael.

Closing prayers will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10:20 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at the Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, with her brother-in-law, Fr. Albert A. Krupp, officiating. Deborah Jane Clemons

Wellington- Deborah Jane Clemons, 56, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Lorain. 

Deborah was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 31, 1958 to her loving parents, Grover "Pete" and Martha (nee: Ward) Clemons. Deborah graduated from The Lorain Business College with a degree in accounting. She was employed at Lorain Products, Marconi's for ten years, and Ceva in Avon Lake. She enjoyed spending time with her family, listening to music, watching Sci-fi, spending time outdoors and traveling. She was a fan of and enjoyed reading Steven King's books.

She is survived by her four loving children, William Clemons of Vermilion, Amy Martincak of Lorain, Anna Kandle of Lorain and Thomas Kandle of Lorain; longtime companion, Carl DeScott; one sister, Sharon Clemons of Cleveland; two brothers, Kenny Clemons of Cleveland, and Larry  (Rachel) Clemons of Cleveland; seven grandchildren, Alexis Clemons, Michael Dineff, Elliot Sines, Violet Kandle, Kaitlyn Martincak, Ashley Martincak and Emily Martincak; and various nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Grover and Martha Clemons.

A memorial service will be held at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961 on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 4:00 PM Pastor Laurie Miller, officiating. Judith K. Auvil

Lorain- Judith K. Auvil (nee: Shaw), 74, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at St. John Medical Center in Westlake, Ohio following a brief illness.  

Judy was born in Galloway, West Virginia on July 26, 1940 to her loving parents, Harter and Louise (nee: Smallridge) Shaw. Judy graduated from Phillipi High School in Phillipi, West Virginia. She was a homemaker providing a loving home for her family. Judy married her husband, Charlie on March 15, 1958 and together they raised their two loving children, Todd and Stephanie. She was a resident of Lorain all her life. Judy was involved in civic activities, she was an avid sports fan, and horse show enthusiast. Judy played competitive volleyball until she was 65 years old. She was active in serving at Lorain (Steelmen) High School, and a member of St. Anthony of Padua of Lorain.   She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Charlie Auvil; one son, Todd (Linda) Auvil of Lorain; one daughter, Stephanie Auvil of Lorain; seven grandchildren, Ashley, McKenzie, Dawson, Ross, and Ryan Auvil, and Meghan and Brian Beury of Lorain; one sister, Karen (Bill) White of Florida; one brother, Scott (Marcy) Shaw of Florida; many nieces and nephews; best friend, "Cookie" Cotterill; and many other good friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harter and Louise Shaw.

Mr. James "Jimmy" Keenan Jr.

Lorain- James"Jimmy" Keenan Jr., 56, passed away following a brief illness on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the VA Hospital in Cleveland, OH.

Jimmy enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1977 following graduation from Brookside High School.

He is survived by his mother, Pearl L. and siblings, Lois Mihalek, Walter and Ken Keenan.

He was preceded in death by his father, James C. Keenan Sr. and grandparents.

Mrs. Margaret E. Pekare

Lorain- Margaret E. (nee: Bereznay) Pekare, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center in Lorain, OH.

Margaret was born on January 7, 1923 in Lorain, OH and she graduated from Lorain High School on June 4, 1941. She married the late Robert F. Pekare and they made their home in Lorain. Margaret was employed by the Lorain School System working at Emerson Grade School. She enjoyed many fun things like gardening and baking. She also was a big Cleveland Indians Fan along with the Browns and Cavs. Margaret lived many years in her home and recently moved into Anchor Lodge Assisted Living. She loved living along Lake Erie. She called this home. Margaret was a member of St. Anthony of Padua and past officer and member of the Marian Guild. In earlier years she was active in St. Anthony's School P.T.A.

Survivors include her daughter, Marjorie (James) Babinsky of Lorain; son, Robert (Karen nee: Ivancic) Pekare Jr. of Amherst; sister, Kathleen (Al) Machovina of Grafton; brothers, John (Mildred) Bereznay of Lorain and Albert (Kathy) Bereznay of Elyria; grandchildren, Scott (Amy) Warner of PA, Bryan (Dianne) Warner of PA, Jamie (Todd Angello) Babinsky of Lorain; Kourtney (Roosevelt) Williams of VA, Ryan Pekare of MI, Robert John (Lori) Pekare of Wadsworth, Kaitlin Pekare of Columbus, and Kelsey Pekare of Amherst; great grandchildren, Brenden Warner, Conner Warner, Taylor Warner, Camryn Warner, Jonathan Williams and Charlotte Williams; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert F. Pekare Sr.; parents, Andrew and Elizabeth (nee: Hleba) Bereznay; brothers, Andrew and Joseph Bereznay; sisters, Marie Nemeth, Elizabeth Trepoy, Florence Tomasek and Anna Oray.

Lorain- Anna M. (nee: Bereznay) Oray, 94, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home, Hospice Unit, in Lorain, OH.

Anna was born on June 7, 1920 in Lorain, OH where she resided all of her life and she graduated from Lorain High School. She was a life-long member of Nativity BVM Church in Lorain, OH.

She is survived by her sons, Charles G. (Marilyn) Clotz of Amherst, OH and Andrew C. (Maureen) Clotz of Billerica, MA; sisters, Margaret Pekare and Kathleen (Albert) Machovina; brothers, John (Millie) Bereznay and Albert (Kathleen) Bereznay; grandchildren, Charles (Tammy) Clotz, Christopher S. Clotz, Patricia A. (Bruce) Lambert, Dawn M. Clotz and Andrea M. (Edward) Pittman; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Tyler, Alex and Jacob; and loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Oray in 1986; parents, Andrew and Elizabeth Bereznay; brothers, Joseph and Andrew Bereznay; sisters, Marie Nemeth, Florence Tomasek and Betty Trepoy.

Wakeman- Lillian Cook (nee: Webb), 92, passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain, OH.

Lillian was born in Pineknob, West Virginia on January 29, 1922 to her loving parents, Averal and Ammie (nee: Jarrel) Webb. She married her husband James Howard on August 17, 1945 and together they raised their two loving daughters, Nadine and Darlene. She was a homemaker providing a loving home for her family. She enjoyed bowling with her husband, spending time gardening, crafts and crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren. Lillian attended Church of the Open Door.

She is survived by her daughters, Nadine (James) Yantko of Sheffield, and Darlene (John) Gaia of Lorain; grandsons, Matt Vealey of Elyria, Mark Vealey of Blooming Rose, West Virginia, Brian Gaia of Toledo, and Jonathan Gaia of Amherst; great grandchildren, Nicholas Vealey of Elyria, Maggie Vealey of Peytona, West Virginia, and Daniel Gaia of Amherst; and great-great grandson, Evan Vealey of Elyria.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years of marriage, James Cook in 1991; parents, Averal and Ammie; son, James Howard Cook; brother, Howard Webb; and sister, Mary Allen.

Mr. James L. "Jim" Slevin

Lorain- James "Jim" Slevin, 73, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born in Amherst, OH on July 3, 1941 to his loving parents, John and Winifred (nee: Logan) Slevin.

He graduated from Lorain St. Mary's High School, Class of 1958. Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1962, where he was stationed in Korea, returned home briefly to marry his beloved Mary Ann (nee:Spontik) on November 9, 1963 and he was honorably discharged in 1965. He worked and retired from BF Goodrich as a supervisor.

He is survived by his wife of over 50 years of marriage, Mary Ann Slevin; son, Robert (Lori) Slevin of Livonia, MI; daughter, Maureen (Terry) Saunders of Elyria, OH; grandchildren, Nicholas, Kayla, Jacob and Kiley; sisters, Patricia Klimko and Mary (Bill) Neely; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Sister M. Christina, SJSM.

 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 10, 2014 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 41295 N. Ridge Rd., Elyria, OH, Rev. Fr. Donald Dunson, Pastor, officiating (meet at Church). Private Christian entombment services will be held at a later date at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain with military honors.
