James T. Eustace

 

LorainJames T. Jim Eustace, 87, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, entered eternal peace surrounded by his caring family and care givers, on the afternoon of September 9, 2010, following a six month illness.  

 

Jim was born on August 19, 1923, in Warren, Ohio, to the late Robert and Teresa (nee Bell) Eustace.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, and the mother of his children, Agnes Ann (nee Alex) Eustace, his infant daughter, Patricia, his brother, Robert Eustace, his sister, Bernadette Eustace, his son, James Eustace in 2005, and a dear grandson, Tyler Eustace.

 

Left to cherish Jims memory and his kindness is his spouse, Mary (nee Linden) Fuhrman Eustace, his dear sisters, Mary Teresa Onders and Veronica Manofsky, Warren, OH and Catherine Byers, McDonald, OH; his sons, Robert (Debbie) of Lorain, Donald (Maggie) of California, Richard (Susan) of Collins, Ohio, Allen (Abby) of Knoxville, TN, and daughter in law, Rachel Eustace, Harlingen, TX.  He was also the proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren, and 17 great-grand children.

 

In addition, Jims step children will fondly remember his love and caring over the past 15 years.  Jeanine (Bill) Sabo, Dublin, OH, Elaine (George) Riedmiller, Delaware, OH, Mark (Celia) Fuhrman, Lorain, Anita (Joe) Lieser, Delaware, OH, Mary Jo (Shane) Delin, Lorain, Marty (Laura) Fuhrman, Vermilion, OH, and 17 step-grandchildren and 4 step-great grand-children.

 

Jim graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in Warren, OH in 1941.  He entered the Signal Corps in Fort Monmouth, NJ, and served in the 110th United States Army Air Force, ranked as a Corporal, from 1943 through 1945.  Jim retired from Century Tel Phone Company in Lorain in 1982.  Upon retirement, Jims hobbies included golf, bird watching, bowling, playing cards and travel throughout Southern Florida and Texas and Kelleys Island, OH. 

 

The entire family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the caring staff at New Life St. Joseph Hospice, CHP, to Father Mazanec of St. Josephs parish in Amherst, OH, and Father Craig Hovanec of St. Peters Parish, Lorain. Also, a warm thank you to neighbors, Tony and Wendy, for their years of support and assistance.

Closing prayers will be held at the funeral home Monday morning at 10:20 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, September 13, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst, OH 44001, Fr. James Mazanec, officiating. Lorain- James Malcolm (Jim,Red) McPhie, 62, passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph.

He was born on September 30, 1947. He attended St. Marys Academy for 12 years, graduating in 1965. Jim was a stand-out football player, earning All-Conference honors as a Senior. Upon graduation, Jim enlisted in his beloved United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably for four years, including 13 months in Vietnam, where he earned two purple hearts in defense of his country.

Following his years of service, Jim joined the Lorain Fire Department, on which he served for twenty five years, attaining the rank of Lieutenant, retiring in 1998. Jim then split his time between Lorain and Arizona. In Arizona, Jim spent time with his daughter, Laurie, his granddaughter, Arielle McPhie and his grandson, Logan Lamothe. He loved golf and his Notre Dame football.

He is survived by his wife, Toni (nee:Furci) McPhie; daughter Laurie(Tony); grandchildren, Arielle and Logan; mother, Eileen McPhie; brothers, Gus (Mary), Joe (Maribeth), Bob (Vicki), Bill (Barb); and his sister, Cathie (Herb Watling); brother-in-law, Joe Furci; also, Uncle Jim will be missed by his nephews and nieces, Christi, Michael, Molly, Brian, Sarah, Matthew, Brian, Chris, Megan, Katie and Colleen and 14 great nieces/nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Malcolm; son, Brett William; brother, Richard Keith.

 Lorain- Richard Thomas Stewart Sr., 57, passed from this life on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at the Pikeville Medical Center.

He was born in Pike County, Kentucky on October 8, 1952 to Thomas Stewart and Evalee (nee:Mullins) Stewart. Richard was a coal miner and a diesel mechanic.

He is survived by his three sons, Jon (Debbie) Harbert of Lorain, OH, Richard Thomas (Kristen-fiancee) of North Royalton, OH and Curtis (Jenna-fiancee) Farr of North Ridgeville, OH; four daughters, Jennifer (Corey) Linn of Amherst, OH, Terri (Phillip) Adkins of Elkhorn City, KY, Heather (Kevin) Hockenberger of Wellington, OH and Jessica Stewart of Lorain, OH; two brothers, David Stewart of Belcher, KY and Jackie Stewart of Belcher, KY; four sisters, Gail Prater of Belcher, KY, Zetta Sawyers of Elkhorn City, KY, Carol Thomas of Lexington, KY and Linda Sue Branham of Georgetown, KY; and seventeen grandchildren, Jacqueline, Laurel, Ethan, Makinsey, Virginia, Hannah, Devin, Michael, Jessalea, Chace, Casandra, Donavon, David, Kelsie, James, Cayden and Baby Stewart due to arrive in February 2011.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Rose Mary (nee: Craigo) Stewart; and his parents, Thomas and Evalee Stewart.

George Renick

Lorain George Renick, 86, passed away at his home on Sunday, August 8, 2010.

He entered the Navy on September 6, 1944. George was stationed in the Pacific during World War II. He married his loving wife, Rose Marie (nee: Cusumano), on June 19, 1948. George worked at the Ford Plant in Lorain, Ohio for many years. He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Church. George enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved watching Westerns, NASCAR and working on cars. He loved chocolate!

George is survived by his; daughters, Patti (Dale) Betka of Lorain, Georgie (Dave) Smith of Amherst; sons, Ron Renick of Lorain, Randy Renick of Lorain and Rob (Leigh) Renick of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Lisa (Bob) Harcula, Scott (Wendy) Lachman, Eric (Larissa) Betka, Kristen (Mark) Layman, Valerie Malumphy, Tracie (Jeff) Heuring, Matt Renick, Ashleigh Friedman and Ryan Renick; fourteen great grandchildren; sister, Millie Kurt of Erie, PA; brother, John Renick of Edinboro, PA; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marie Renick on February 7, 2010; parents, Steve and Amelia Renick; sisters, Frances Bennett, Louise Habada, Sally Dasovich, Irene Weidner and Janet Kurt; and brother, Steve Hrenick.

Lorain- Leonarda Nonna Scagliozzi, 96, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Community Health Partners, Lorain, surrounded by her loving family.

 

She was born on June 28, 1914 in Bovino, Italy to her parents, Giuseppe and Carmela Masciello. Nonna came to America in 1963 to join with her daughter, Vincenza, and to help raise her grandchildren.

 

She was a member of St. Peter Church in Lorain. Nonna enjoyed cooking, gardening, singing and spending time with her grandchildren, especially her great-granddaughter, Adrianna Anna.

She is survived by her devoted daughter who lovingly cared for her, Vincenza (Michael) Verde; dear grandchildren, Teresa (Fred) Kopa, Frank Verde, Lisa (Scott) Cole and Dina (Adrian) Velez; and her cherished great grandchildren, Christina, Lauren and Brett Kopa, Joshua and Taylor Cole and Adrianna Velez.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francesco Scagliozzi; and her parents, Giuseppe and Carmela Masciello.

Westlake- Rose M. Henry (nee: Medaglia), 88, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2010 at her home.

 Rose was born on July 23, 1922 in Lorain, OH to her parents, John and Anna M (nee:Greco) Medaglia.

 Rose graduated from Lorain High School in 1942 and attended several universities taking numerous business classes. She returned to Lorain and worked for Sears, Roebuck & Co. starting as a secretary and working her way to the top, supervising 12 departments. She worked for St. Joseph Hospital as an X-Ray Technician, St. Lukes Hospital as supervisor of accounting, Huron, Erie and Lorain Metropolitan Housing Authority as a financial director retiring in 1992 after 25 years of service. She moved to Westlake in 1974.

 She was a member of St. Peters Church, Lorain; St. Ladislas, Westlake; International Womens Club; Commander and life-long member of  DAV Auxillary, Lorain Chapter; St. Johns Cathedral Choir in Cleveland; National Council of Catholic Women; Lorain Business Womens Club and Third Order of St. Francis. Rose spent many years traveling and enjoyed spending much of her time volunteering for senior citizen organizations.

 She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Donald E. Henry of Westlake; sister, Aurelia S. Imbrogno of Lorain; niece, Cathy (Marty) Williamson of Athens, GA and Pati (Don) Murphy; and nephew, Leonard (Ginger) Imbrogno of Bena, TX.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Medaglia; brother, Frank Medaglia; and her infant sister, Eleanor Medaglia.

Lorain- Florentino M. Tino Garcia, 79, called to Eternal Life on Thursday, July 22, 2010.

 He was born on  November 14, 1930 in Lorain, Ohio where he lived his entire life.

 Tino worked at the U.S. Steel, American Shipyard and retired in 1985 from the City of Lorain Police Department after having Honorably served for 28 years. The various divisions of the Police Department that he served in were the Traffic Division Motorcycle Unit, Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Detective Bureau and Dispatch. Upon retirement, he worked for the City of Sheffield Lake, Ohio Police Department as a dispatcher for 10 years. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed fishing. Tino was past Commander of the Polish Legion of American Veterans (PLAV) in Lorain. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict.

 He is survived by his sons, David M. (Lori) Garcia and Matthew J. Garcia; daughter, Jeanette (Rick) Fox; grandchildren, Jamie (Nick) Dodson, ENFN Cory James Garcia United States Navy, Alexis Garcia, Joshua Garcia, Alyssa Garcia and Jessica Garcia; great-grandson, Nathan Dodson; brother, Joseph Garcia; and sister, Marlene Garza.

 He was preceded in death by his Father, Frank Garcia; mother, Frances (nee Flaczynski) Garcia; and brother, Henry T. Hank Garcia.

 Lorain- Julia A. Julie Pravlik (nee Sopko), cherished mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away on July 18, 2010 after a brief illness, at Kingston of Vermilion surrounded by her loving family.

 Julie was born in Carpentertown, Pennsylvania on May 22, 1927.  She and her beloved husband of 60 years, the late Edward Pravlik, moved to Lorain shortly after they wed.  Following his retirement, Julie and Ed moved to Clayton, North Carolina where they resided for several years before returning to Lorain in 1999.

 Throughout her life Julie took great pride in caring for her husband and her family.  She was a superb cook and enjoyed making traditional Slovak fare such as homemade pierogies every year at Lent and kiffles at Christmas.  Cooking and spending time with her family are what Julie cherished most of all.

 Julies favorite pastime was sitting down with her family to play a spirited game of cards.  She also enjoyed puzzles, bingo and watching Cash Cab and the Cleveland Indians on television.  By her exemplary example, together with her husband Ed, she taught her children and grandchildren the true meaning and importance of family.

 Julie was preceded in death by her husband Edward on October 9, 2009.  She was also preceded in death by her mother and father, Michael and Anna (Grec) Sopko, and siblings Joe Sopko, George Sopko, Mary Harenchar, Helen Testa, Marie DAmato, and Rose Bair. 

 She will be dearly missed by her son Dale (Roxana) of Lorain and grandchildren Chase, Tonya, Marc and Jennie, son Danny of Benson, N.C., son David (April) of Berlin Heights and grandchildren Jesse, Jeremy, Joey, Sarah and Tyler, son Gary of Raleigh, N.C. and grandchildren Doug, Tony, Shea and Ashley, daughter Sharon (Dean) Arroyo of Lorain and grandchildren Matt and Kyle, and son Eddie (Wendy) of Benson, N.C. and grandson Johnathan, 15 great-grandchildren and her sister Elizabeth Lucotch of Pennsylvania.

Lorain- Charles Anthony Trifiletti, 85, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky.

Charles was born in Lorain, Ohio on May 22, 1925 to his parents, Charles Paul and Etha Trifiletti. He graduated from Lorain High School in 1943. Charles enlisted in the United States Army during WWII serving in the Philippines as Military Police from 1943-1946 on the Island of Laity. He owned Trifilettis Automotive Repair and Trucking Service and was a successful business owner for 53 years. He was a lifetime member of the Elks 1301 and past member of the IAV Post #1 in Lorain. Charles was a Certified ASE Mechanic and was a member of North Ohio Petroleum Association of Cleveland.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years of marriage, Frances Mae (nee: Preston) Trifiletti, whom he married in 1946; daughter, Linda Marie (Charles) Yerico of Solon, OH; sons, Ronald William (JoLynne) Trifiletti of Lorain, Charles Paul Trifiletti of Michigan and Samuel Keith Trifiletti (Sheila) of Amherst; grandchildren, Wendy Jo (Robert) Szabaoos, Paul Anthony (Dena) Trifiletti, Nicole Marie (Mark) Ziegler, Brian Edward (Detra) Trifiletti, Rachel Ann Trifiletti, Stacia Preston Yerico, Samantha Ann Trifiletti, Adam Michael Trifiletti and Shawn Allen Trifiletti; great grandchildren, Robert Szabados, Taya Szabados, Alia Trifiletti, James Trifiletti, Danielle Branham, Ashley Branham, Tyler Trifiletti and Ryan Charles Ziegler; brothers, Mac (Caroline) Nott, Dale (Ruth) Nott, Hugh Nott and Charlie Nott; and sisters, June E. (Don) Jenkins, Jeanette (Michael) Bozoki and Dea Martin.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Etha (nee: Moorehouse) Trifiletti Nott; father, Charles Paul Trifiletti; brothers, Anthony A. Trifiletti and Richard Trifiletti; and sister, Lillian Suits.

Lorain- Eugene S Provenza, 63, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Community Health Partners, Lorain.

Eugene was born in Lorain, Ohio on July 4, 1946 by his parents, Salvatore and Adele (nee: Tarquinio) Provenza. He was a member of St. Peter Church and the VFW Post 451 in Lorain. Eugene graduated from Lorain High School in 1965. After 35 years, he retired from Marconis in 2000. Eugene enjoyed football, baseball, playing cards, bowling, playing slots in Vegas and visiting his brother, Mario, in Wisconsin.

He is survived by his brother, Mario (Darlene) Provenza.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Salvatore and Adele Provenza; and two brothers, Ronny and Albert Provenza.
