Lorain-
John F. Sklarek Sr., 76, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Mercy
Regional Medical Center in Lorain, OH after a lengthy illness.
He
was born on October 10, 1938 in Lorain, OH. John graduated from Lorain High
School and on August 27, 1960 he married his beloved Patricia "Patsy" (nee:
Beko) and they raised three sons together. He entered into the United States
Army in 1961 and was honorably discharged in 1963. He was the founder and owner
of J&J Door in Huron, OH for 25 years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of
St. Peter's Church in Lorain. He loved fishing, shooting his guns, woodworking
and going to Zeller's Beach in Marblehead, OH where he was known as "the mayor
of Zeller's Beach".
He
is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years of marriage, Patricia A. Sklarek;
sons, John F. (Christine) Sklarek Jr., Michael J. (Kathy) Sklarek and Mark J.
(Christine) Sklarek; sister, Jean (Don) Warner; brother, Louis (Arlene)
Sklarek; grandchildren, Jessica and Nicholas: Anthony (Lindsay), Adam and
Matthew: and Amanda; great grandchildren, Hailey and Zoey; and loving nieces,
nephews and cousins.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Lottie Sklarek; sisters, Tessie
(Dick) Turton and Fran (Don) Nawicki; brother, and Joe Sklarek.
The
family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and
Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961 on Friday, April 24,
2015 from 4:00 -8:00 PM. Closing prayers will be held at the funeral home on
Saturday at 11:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday,
April 25, 2015 at St. Peter's Church, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, Fr. Craig M.
Hovanec, Pastor, officiating. Private Christian burial services will be held at
a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain, OH. Memorial donations may be made
in John's name to a charity of donor's choice. Online condolences may be sent

Dear Pat and Family,
I just learned of John's passing. I am so very sorry. He's been my good neighbor and friend at Zeller's... always there whenever I go to my place. I will miss him dearly.
I would have attended his funeral services but I just found out by email from Adeline Grillo in Florida. Joe emailed her.
Please accept my deepest sympathy.
John was an icon at Zeller's and he will be dearly missed by everyone.

My condolences to the Sklarek family for their loss. I new John from High
School and knew him to be a nice person. From a former neighbor on Vassar Avenue, which I miss dearly.

No one enjoyed Zeller's more than John. I remember going down there in the middle of winter and John would be there, surrounded by snow! He will be missed.

So very sorry to learn of John's passing....sympathies to his entire family. Please., is John's sister Jean married to the Don Warner I know? My friend, Don Warner was my best man at our wedding in 1958...., & I've lost track of him.We moved to Atlanta in 1973., & I just do not know where Don is., so, please help if you can. We are saddened with the loss of our dear friend John. He was such an important part of many happy and fun memories at Zeller�s, from the oldest to the youngest resident. The Mayor of Zeller�s will forever be held in a special place in our hearts. Love, Roger and Pat
