Mr. Gerald N. Morog

Lorain- Gerald "Jerry", "Butchie" Morog, 73, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain surrounded by his loving family. 

Jerry was born in Lorain, Ohio on November 3, 1941 to his loving parents, Robert "Moose" and Betty (nee: Smith) Morog. He graduated from Clearview High School and attended many years of in-depth computer training and repair schools. Jerry worked at the Morning Journal as a systems analyst. He started his employment there shortly after High School graduation where he has sinced retired in 2006. He loved fishing and was an avid hunter in earlier years and enjoyed the outdoors.    

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Jennifer (nee: Bernsee) Morogof Lorain; two daughters, Michelle Degirolamo of Sandusky, Monica (Dave) Brehun of Avon Lake; grandchildren, Hannah, Alex, Phoebe, Mia; three sisters, Jeannette (John) Schaser, Judy (Huey) Kirk, Joan Morog; one brother, Bob (Mary) Morog; plus nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Betty Morog.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961 on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 6:00 PM until the time of service at 8:00 PM with Fr. My condolences to the family and friends. Jerry was a longtime coworker at The Journal. I enjoyed working with him and shamelessly took advantage of his knowledge and help to move myself into the computer age. I'm sure he will be missed.
