Mr. Larry E. Steffani

Lorain- Larry Steffani, 80, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain, OH.

He was born in Lorain, Ohio on July 19, 1934 to his loving parents, Alfonso and Rose (nee: Ujlaki) Steffani. Lawrence attended St. Mary's Academy in Lorain, playing football and basketball before he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1952 and was honorably discharged following his service. He married his beloved wife, Margaret (nee: Brotherton) on September 24, 1977. Larry worked at GM for 32 years retiring in 1999. He was a Life Member at the Amvets and VFW in Elyria and a member of the United Polish Club in Elyria for 30 years. Larry enjoyed spending his free time bowling, golfing and playing baseball in the city leagues.

He is survived by his three daughters, Earlene (Terry) O'Connor of Lorain, Cathie (Alan) Prosser of Bellevue and Margeret (Jim) Carver of Bellevue; son, Earl Eddington of Elyria; Eleven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 33 years of marriage, Margeret (nee: Brotherton) Steffani; parents, Alfonso and Rose Steffani; and son, Bill Eddington.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, (440) 244-1961 on Sunday, October 19, 2014 from 3:00 until closing prayers at 6:00 PM. Private burial services will be held at a later date at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria, OH with military honors. So very sorry to hear of your Father's passing, Earlene. I wish you and your family Peace during this time of heart break. I work at Mercy New Life Hospice and was hoping to see you. Staff at Avon Oaks was sorry to hear about Larry's passing. We enjoyed his visits to the Business Office and his funny stories and how proud he was of his grandson Patrick. I would always love seeing Margaret's smile whenever Larry would come to visit. They are together again!
