Mr. Joseph A. Conway

Lorain- Joseph A. Conway, 65, passed away unexpectedly on March 25, 2014 at his Florida residence.  Joe leaves behind a loving wife and best friend of 32 years, Gail (nee: Kippenberger) Conway.   Born in Cambridge, MA to Gladys E. (nee: Boudreau) Conway and Joseph A. Conway [deceased], Joe was an only child who leaves behind two daughters and four grandchildren. Joe had earned a BA in Math from Suffolk University, an electrical engineering degree from Wentworth Institute and an MBA from Baldwin-Wallace College. Joseph worked in Electronic Sales at General Electric for 30 years. His primary passion was his love and devotion to his wife, Gail, who were seldom parted. Like his patron Saint Joseph, Joe was a patient and humble man who could build and fix anything, tell a great story and enjoy a good laugh.  He generously helped anyone who needed his expertise. Joe was an avid bridge player, master chess player, world traveler, civil war buff, golfer and expert marksman. His favorite pastime was riding his BMW/Harley. Joe served as the Director of Elyria Harley Davidson. He was a member of the West Cleveland Hogs and an officer of Cleveland BMW. He spoke fluent French and Latin.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961 on Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 4 - 8 PM and Friday from 9 - 9:30 AM. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 4, 2014 at 9:30 AM at the funeral home, Rev. Lisa Morrison, officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart Association or to the charity of donor's choice. Online condolences may be sent using www.rsgfuneralhome.com.

Gail, Jade and me send our condolences on the sudden loss of Joe. We were blessed to have known Joe and enjoyed the time we spent with him on our trips to Ohio. He was a really wonderful human being. We will remember his warm smile and the happiness he always brought to a room. I think he probably touched more lives than most of us will in his time. He will be missed but never forgotten. When we opened our Downtown Lorain H & R Block Tax Office, Joe was a prominent figure there. When that office closed, Joe joined us at our current Lorain Plaza H & R Block location. Not only did his co-workers appreciate Joe, The Tax Pro, but his clients continued to patronize him year after year. He certainly had a following. Joe will be missed by many. It just never will be the same without him.

We have all lost a great friend. Although I only met you guys 13 years ago, it seems like we are life long friends.Joe's humor,and story telling were enjoyed by us all.His willingness to dress in crazy outfits for our parties was the best.He was always willing to cook and help out or even just give a hug.For me, 4th of July,Halloween and New Years will never be the same.I have so many great pictures to remember, and I smile every time I use a brillo pad thinking of his bike windshield. I am blessed to have met you both during my years of riding. Joe's purpose was accomplished on this earth.He will be smiling down on us all while waiting for our heavenly reunion.I wonder what party he is getting ready for next.See ya on the other side.
