Clementine

Lorain - Clementine M. Costello (nee: Giardini), age 94, died Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center, following an extended illness.

Clementine was born September 14, 1919 in the lovely town of Lincoln Hills, PA.  She had been a resident of Lorain since her childhood. She was the loving daughter of Antonio and Pauline (nee: Spaghett) Giardini, both of whom emigrated from Abbruzzi, Italy in the early 1900's. Clementine was married to John Costello on September 4, 1944 and they shared 66 wonderful years together. "Clem" took great pride in her ability to "dress" customers of her employers which included, Jonas Dress, Young Timers, and Harry's Men's Wear.  She loved to tell the stories of how she could make anyone look great. A parishioner of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain, she read her bible daily and was always happy to spread the word and readings. Clementine was also an outstanding cook and enjoyed making "her" famous Italian wedding soup, "special sauce" and the most wonderful homemade bread and pepperoni rolls.

She is survived by her son, Peter (Deborah nee: Parks) of Lorain and daughter-in-laws, Dawn Costello (nee: Taylor), and Creta Costello nee: Ball) both of Lorain.  Clem was also the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren, Gina, Christina, Peter, Destiney, Lisa, Joanna, and John; as well as 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John; son, Anthony and an infant; as well as her parents, Antonio and Pauline (nee: Spaghett) Giardini; two sisters, Jenny Tornabeme and Jennie Giardini; and brother, Bernard Giardini.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo  Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, OH, (440)244-1961, on Thursday, February 6, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
