Mrs. Mildred L. Gilchrist-Beach

Mildred L. Gilchrist-Beach, 101, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2014 at Westlake Village in Westlake, OH. She was born February 6, 1912 at a farm in Lapeer County, Michigan, graduated high school at Columbiaville, and lived much of her adult life at North Lake Michigan until age 88, when she moved to Westlake, Ohio to be near her daughter. At age 95, she moved to Westlake Village Independent Living apartments with her little dog named Lady,  and just last year, at age 101, transferred to their assisted living section, where she resided until suffering a fall in October. She was an avid collector of antique glass and ceramics. During her later years, she was especially dedicated to doing counted cross stitch and watching the Cleveland Indians play baseball. She made pictures, quilts and ornaments by the hundreds as gifts to her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Dean (Shirley) Gilchrist of Ocala, FL and Brenda (Don) Woodsmall of Westlake, OH; grandchildren, Greg (Lynn) Gilchrist of San Francisco, Linda (Mitch) Allen of Seattle,  Scott (Karen) Doane of Westlake; nephews, Ed Timm and John Stenton; ten great-grandchildren; and the loving extended family of her grandson Scott.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of 52 years, Clarence Gilchrist who died  in 1984; second husband, Ed Beach in 1989; her parents, Edwin and Pearl (nee: Rich) Skinner; sisters, Hazel Timm, Jean Stenton and Donna Lambert.

Mildred's family will receive family and friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, Lorain, OH on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Westlake Bible Fellowship, 27975 Hilliard Blvd, Westlake, OH on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 11:30 AM. Private Burial  services will be conducted by the Hanlin Funeral Home at Watertown Township Cemetery near Fostoria Michigan on Friday, January 17, 2014.

my favorite aunt, wife of my favorite uncle. we will miss you but you will never be forgotten. it seems like yesterday when you used to put strawberry jam on my toast.we cannot attend this week but we will be at fostoria in the spring. your loving nephew boyd gilchrist and wife pat.
