Mr. Quintino G. DiFilippo

Lorain- Quintino G. DiFilippo, 94, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Montenero, Italy on June 15, 1918 to his loving parents, Federico and Giuliarosa (nee: Mannarelli) DiFilippo.

Quintino graduated with a degree in Education in Italy and was an elementary school teacher in Italy. He served in the Italian Army during WWII and was stationed in Sardinia, Italy. He came to the United States at the age of 29 and married his wife, Rosemary in 1955. He retired from the City of Lorain Surveying Department. He was a member of St. Peter Church in Lorain and he enjoyed spending time outdoors with his children and received great joy spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years of marriage, Rosemary (nee: Magazzine) DiFilippo: children, Quintino A. DiFilippo, Fred (Marla) DiFilippo, Frank (Ana) DiFilippo and Julimarie (Mark) Mishak: grandchildren, Madeline and Nick DiFilippo; Francesco DiFilippo and Christian Quiles; Mark II and Michael Mishak: and sister, Clara Miraldi. 

He was preceded in death by parents: siblings, Filomena DiFilippo, Filomeno DiFilippo, Augusta Raponi and Bice DiMarco.

The family will receive family and friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961 on Sunday, March 3, 2013 from 3:00-7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 4, 2013 at 9:30 AM at St. Peter Church, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, Fr. Craig M. Hovanec, Pastor, officiating (meet at Church on Monday). Christian burial services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain. Memorial donations may be made to Franciscan Mission Associates, 274 W. Lincoln Ave., P.O. BOX 598, Mount Vernon, NY 10551. I have so many wonderful memories of Uncle Quintino at family reunions. He always had a twinkle in his eye and a great story to tell! My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I would like to convey my deepest sympathy to your family. I have so many fond memories of Quintino. As a youngster, I remember sitting on Uncle Al's front porch listening to the many stories that our family loved to tell. I was struck by Quintion's gentleness and kindness and how easily he fit in. I am sure that they are all back on the front porch in heaven
