Mrs. Imogene Tardio

Berea Imogene (nee: Greer)Tardio, age 86, of Berea, OH passed away at home on December 6th 2011 following a brief illness. Imogene was born on April 10, 1925 in Gideon, Missouri to Maude and Charles Greer. As a child, she moved to Cape Girardeau, MO where she sang and played guitar with the Owens Band on the radio and was introduced as Little Missouri Sweetheart. She chose to stay with her family rather than moving to California with the band to continue performing. She was a graduate of Cape Girardeau High. During World War II she moved to Saint Louis to work as an ammunition inspector and met her future husband, Fred Tardio on the Saint Louis Carousel. In 1948, she moved to Lorain, Ohio where she resided for the next sixty one years. She was a founding and active member of the Blazette Auxiliary of Sheffield Township Fire Department. As the matriarch of a large family, Imogene was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and a doting great grandmother. She was a member of the Church of Saint Peter Catholic Church in Lorain. Besides enjoying spending time with her family, she enjoyed sharing her love of cooking. Cooking for family gatherings was a special time for her and friends were always welcomed to come and share in the festivities. Her other interests included reading, ceramics, and music along with traveling the world with friends and family. She loved her time in Italy the most but also enjoyed trying new adventures. She almost forgot to tell people that she rode a camel in Morocco at seventy nine years of age because it was just another adventure in a life truly lived and enjoyed.

She is survived by her devoted daughter Maryann Clark, son Dr. Jerry Tardio (David Savchuk), son-in-laws Jerry Brove, Michael Miskov, sister-in-law Joanne (Carl) Geise, Grandchildren Jay (Amber) Brove, Michelle (Randy) Wasuk, Sarah (Mathew) Mahaffy, Amy and Emily Miskov, Patricia (Michael) Peters, Kathryn Tardio and cherished Great-Grand Children Jay M Brove, Kate Brove, Cassandra Flasco, Justice Flasco, Lindsey Wasuk, Mallory Peters, Jillian Peters, Jack Mahaffy, and William Mahaffy.

My daughter Kerri informed me of your loss, she communicates with Terresa Barry (Florence's grandaughter) often. I have fond memories of your mother when I lived on 46th street and she always treated me very nicely when I visited from California.
