Mrs. Rita C. Stratton

Rita C. Stratton, 90 of Avon Oaks went to be with the Lord on April 7, 2011 following a lengthy illness. 

She was born in Lorain, Ohio and graduated from Lorain High School. Rita was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.  She was a secretary and later Clerk Treasurer for Lorain Public library system. Rita also was a volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital. 

She is survived by her daughters, Donna (Howard) Brust of Urbana, OH and Peggy (Mike) Ropelewski of Sheffield Lake, OH; son, James (Renee Holcomb) of New London, OH; grandchildren, Melissa Stratton of New London, OH, Amanda Brust of Urbana, OH, Erik (Charity) Stratton of Elyria, OH, Francis (Crystal) Kovach of Dryden, MI, Donald (Lisa Kovach) of Ypsilanti, MI, Daniel (Laura) Kovach of Westlake, OH; and great-grandchildren, Zachary, Brooke and Chance Stratton, Kaela Perkins, Amber and Sean Kovach, Cameron McFarland and Emily Kovach.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald G.; parents, George and Mary (nee: Gross) Ruebel; brothers, Charles and George Jr.; sister, Freida Jean Wallace; and infant grandson, Scott Stratton.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, OH (440) 244-1961 on Monday, April 11, 2011 from 4:00-8:00 PM. Closing prayers will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:20 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1305 E. Erie Ave., Lorain, OH, Fr. Richard E. Hudak, officiating. Christian burial services will be held at a later date at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Crossroads Hospice, 9775 Rockside RD, Suite 270, Valley View, OH 44125. Online condolences may be sent using www.rsgfuneralhome.com.

Donna I am so sorry to read of the loss of your mother. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I wanted to get to the visitation but I had a medical procedure in the am and my legs are so bad anymore I just wasn't able to handle anymore walking. I so wanted to see you. My heart is with you, dear friend. Love Mary and Scott too
