Shirley Neri

 Lorain- Shirley Neri (nee: Miller), 84, passed away on Friday, June 11, 2010 at Autumn Aegis Nursing Home in Lorain.

 Shirley was born on August 19, 1925 in Wyandotte, MI. She grew up in Amherst and moved to Lorain as a young adult where she raised her family and lived for the rest of her life. Shirley graduated from Marion Steele High School in Amherst. She was a proud member of the Democratic Party and an advocate for social justice. She worked her entire life as a bar manager and homemaker. Shirley enjoyed cooking and reading and loved caring for her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also had a love and passion for pets.    

 She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Anthony Neri; daughters, Toni (Lionel) Lavoie,  Jody (Jeffrey) Novotny, Gina (John) Horinger and Briggitte Stubbs; son, Michael Neri; sisters, Sandra (Tom) Wilmer and Myrna Baltzell; grandchildren, Dana, Adam, Lisa, Michael, Danny, Brooke, Bryan, Erin and Brittney; and 13 great grandchildren.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Hilda (nee: Powell) Miller; and granddaughter, Kimberly Neri.

 The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, (440)244-1961 on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 from 9:00 11:00 AM.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at the funeral home, Rev. Christopher Robinson, officiating. Interment Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp. Memorial donations may be made in Shirleys name to the Alzheimers Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601. Online condolences may be sent using www.rsgfuneralhome.com.

I was sorry to read about your mother passing. I knew her when I bowled for the Sand's Lounge years ago and we became good friends. I remember going to Gina's graduation party. We lost touch over the years. I didn't know she was ill. She was a beautiful woman. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
