Lorain-Catherine Marie Zaworski, 50, passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at her home following a sudden illness. Cathy was born on July 23, 1959 in Lorain, OH. A lifelong resident of Lorain, Cathy graduated from LorainCatholicHigh School and Bowling GreenStateUniversity.

Cathy was employed as a Sales Manager at Dixie Pipe, Inc. in Lorain and really enjoyed all of the people with whom she worked. Cathy was an avid fan of Cleveland and OhioState sports and was thrilled to be able to attend the 2010 Rose Bowl this year.

Cathy loved to golf and was a two-time champion of the annual Polish Open Golf Tournament. She was very close with and will be especially missed by her beloved nieces and nephews, Andrea, JJ, Megan, Zachary, Dawn and Haven. In addition, Cathy was a true animal lover and will be very missed by her canine companion, Maggie.

Cathy is survived by her three brothers, John, Mike and Rick Zaworski. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Richard A. and Geraldine; and her brother, Tommy Zaworski.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, (440)244-1961 on Thursday, March 25, 2010 from 1:00 3:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM. Closing prayers will be held at the funeral home Friday morning at 9:20 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, March 26, 2010 at St. Anthony of Padua, 1305 East Erie Ave., Lorain, OH 44052, Fr. Joseph West, O.F.M., Conv., officiating. Christian burial services will be held at CalvaryCemetery, Lorain. Memorial donations may be made to the Tommy Zaworski Scholarship Fund at the funeral home. Dear John, Rick (Butch), and Mike, My deepest sympathy and condolences go out to you and your families at the loss of your sister, Cathy. I apoligize in not sending any sooner, I have been working night shift. The video tribute was great and brought a few tears. I have special memories growing up with the Zaworski family next door, swimming at the lake, helping each other with our paper routes, rubber band fights, four square games, football &baseball in the park, watching your garage burn down and wondering if our house was going to burn as well just to name a few. I will always remember Cathys big smile, sparkle in her eyes, and sense of humor. The Zaworskis are some of the best people that I have had the privilege to have known. May God bless all of you. Dear John, Mike, & Butch, We are saddened to hear the news of Cathy's passing. As kids and next-door neighbors, we spent a lot of time together. Seeing her tribute brought back so many memories of life on North Jefferson. That childhood was interrupted by our move to North Carolina, but the Zaworskis always remained in our heart. I want to express my deep sorrow over hearing of Cathy's passing. We knew each other and spent time together when she lived in Denver, CO. I haven't seen Cathy for quite some time. My heart goes out to the whole Zaworski family, friends and Maggie. I went to Lorain Catholic with Cathy and she was one of my partners in crime back then. I recently reconnected with her in the last year and feel very fortunate to have done so. Even though the time spent with her was short, she was still the same person I knew all those years ago. Funny, gracious, loyal, humble, compassionate and even still a little mischievous. Standing before me after all those years had gone by, I was struck by the depth of her soul and who she had become. I will surely miss her. ~ God Speed My Friend!

Dear Zaworski Family, I had the privilege of working with Cathy when I was transfered to the Lorain works in 2002 to 2005. She was a true professional and always handled any issues I brought to her with both grace and wit. Since my wife and I rented at the Overlook Apartments on east Erie Avenue, we often took evening walks past Cathy's place and saw Maggie out in the yard. We pray for the comfort of the Holy Spirit at this time of your great loss.

To all the Zaworski family - Sincere sympathy on the death of Cathy from all the members of the Bowesn family your cousins in Ireland. We have very fond memories of Cathy's visits to Ireland and the love she had for this country. I myself (Gerry) have great memories of my first visit to Lorain many years ago and in particular the trip Cathy took me on to Bowling Green and the party we had there. In later years I visited with my husband and children and again Cathy was took us on tour. We will never forget that smile and the fun we had. Condolences to all of Cathy's family and friends. We will always remember Cathy smiling and laughing because it seemed like she always was and her laughter and smile will stay in our hearts forever. One of the most memorable experiences of my life I shared with Cathy--the Browns vs. Denver "fumble" game.
