Mr. Wilfredo "Freddy" Rivera

Wilfredo Freddy Rivera

Lorain- Freddy Rivera, 58, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2010, at his home in Lorain. Freddy was born on October 11, 1951 in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico.

He graduated from Admiral King High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army. Freddy received the National Defense Service Medal. He collected classic cars and Harley Davidson motorcycles enjoyed listening to Latin Jazz music. Freddy worked at U.S. Steel, Lorain Works and Angelica Health Care Services.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Lisa Cruz Rivera; daughters Amanda, Alyssa and Alayna; son, Freddy Orlando; mother, Carmen Rivera; mother-in-law, Gloria Cruz; father-in-law, Ramon Cruz; sisters, Ana Griffith, Carmen Torres, Rosa Miller, Linda Rivera, Minerva Palmero, Soraida Miranda, and Nancy Bruce; one granddaughter; three grandsons; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by Father Juan P. Rivera.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, (440) 244-1961 on Sunday, January 10, 2010 from 4-8 PM. Words of Remembrance Service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 8 PM. Closing prayers will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 9:20 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, on Monday, January 11, 2010 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1305 East Erie Avenue, Lorain, Fr. Joseph West, O.F.M. Conv., Pastor. Interment Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp where The American Disabled Veterans and the United States Army will conduct military honors. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to be made in Freddys name at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent using www.rsgfuneralhome.com.
