Mrs. Marie Rose Montalto

Lorain- Marie Rose Montalto (nee Perrier), 99, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Anchor Lodge Retirement Village in Lorain, OH with her loving family at her side.

Marie was the first born to Dominic and Minnie (nee Bove) Perrier on October 9, 1916 in Lorain, OH. She graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1934B. Before her marriage to Joe Montalto on June 17, 1939, she was a legal secretary in the former Broadway Building. After raising their five children, she worked for St. Peter Church and School and for the Lorain City Schools from which she retired. She was a lifelong member of the Church of St. Peter, its Holy Name Society, the Senior Citizens of the church, with membership in the Salvation Army Keenagers and a volunteer with her mother, Minnie Perrier, in the coffee shop at the former St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain. She was also active in their arts and crafts group where they made infants' hats and blankets for the hospital patients, and lap robes for nursing home residents. She enjoyed knitting and making afghans for her family and church bazaars.

In recent years she made her home at Anchor Lodge Retirement Village where she participated in many activities and won many a bingo game.

Marie was a kind, gentle woman who had many lifelong friends. She often wrote hand written notes, remembered and acknowledged birthdays and anniversaries with a card and always added her own personal message.

She is survived by loving children and their spouses, Fred (Marian) Montalto of Ft. Worth, TX, Frances (Bevan) Smith of Amherst, OH, Mary Jo (Dan) Duffy of Lorain, OH, Robert Montalto of Athens, OH and Michael Montalto of Oakland, CA; six dear grandchildren and spouses, Donna Eason, Lisa (Jeff) Tumlinson all of Fort Worth, TX, Adam Montalto of Seattle, WA, Joseph (Elizabeth) Perez of Flower Mound, TX, Charles Perez of Lorain, OH, and Angela (Paul) Meyer of Plainfield, IL; ten cherished great grandchildren, Tiffanie and Chance (Jessica) Eason, Andrew, Natalie and Elisabeth Meyer, Cassie and Carlyn Perez, Crystal (Zach) Thomas, Ashley and Taylor Tumlinson; 3 precious great-great grandchildren, Bryson Eason, Landry Thomas, and Madison McCoy; sisters-in-law, Georgene Perrier, and Joan Plumb; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Bugger the 3 days out on the 100' business 36,497 days (some 5,214 weeks) on this planet well well.......:) I will miss you Aunt Marie - until then!
