Mr. George P. Williams

Lorain - George P. Williams, 77, passed away peacefully at The Woods on French Creek in Avon, OH on Friday, January 27, 2017.   

George was born in Lorain, OH on October 29, 1939 to his loving parents, George H. and Eleanor I. (nee Vezdos) Williams to whom he returns.

He was a lifelong resident of Lorain, graduating from Lorain High School, Class of 1957. George enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in Germany and he was honorably discharged in 1964. Soon after returning home, he met and married his loving wife, Mary Beth (nee Wisniewski) on October 23, 1965. George worked as an Inspector for Ford Motor Company in Lorain and Avon Lake retiring in 2000 after 35 years of service. He enjoyed his retirement spending time with his grandchildren attending their sporting  events and visiting with his great-grandchildren. George also enjoyed watching Cleveland sports teams and playing the lottery and chess. He was easy going and was known for his witty sense of humor.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years of marriage, Mary Beth Williams of Lorain; children, Lisa Williams of Lorain, Krissy Williams of Lorain, and Jeff Williams (Franny Heaton) of Sheffield Village; grandchildren, Tony Moon Jr., Alex and Nick Palacios, and Jeffrey Williams II; great grandchildren, Vanessa and Alaina Palacios; sister-in-law, Kathy (Martin "Butch") Bretz; and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Eleanor Williams; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ted and Betty Wisniewski.

The family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to the staff of The Woods on French Creek and Bella Care Hospice for being so compassionate, supportive and caring with our husband and father. Also, the family would like to offer a very special thank you to all of the doctors and nurses that cared for George throughout his illness.

Private funeral services will be held at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain, OH with Deacon Gary Tomazic, officiating. George and Mary Beth cared deeply for our homeless, memorial donations may be made in George's memory to a homeless shelter of donor's choice.
