Julia A. Julie Pravlik

Lorain- Julia A. Julie Pravlik (nee Sopko), cherished mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away on July 18, 2010 after a brief illness, at Kingston of Vermilion surrounded by her loving family.

Julie was born in Carpentertown, Pennsylvania on May 22, 1927.  She and her beloved husband of 60 years, the late Edward Pravlik, moved to Lorain shortly after they wed.  Following his retirement, Julie and Ed moved to Clayton, North Carolina where they resided for several years before returning to Lorain in 1999.

Throughout her life Julie took great pride in caring for her husband and her family.  She was a superb cook and enjoyed making traditional Slovak fare such as homemade pierogies every year at Lent and kiffles at Christmas.  Cooking and spending time with her family are what Julie cherished most of all.

Julies favorite pastime was sitting down with her family to play a spirited game of cards.  She also enjoyed puzzles, bingo and watching Cash Cab and the Cleveland Indians on television.  By her exemplary example, together with her husband Ed, she taught her children and grandchildren the true meaning and importance of family.

Julie was preceded in death by her husband Edward on October 9, 2009.  She was also preceded in death by her mother and father, Michael and Anna (Grec) Sopko, and siblings Joe Sopko, George Sopko, Mary Harenchar, Helen Testa, Marie DAmato, and Rose Bair.

She will be dearly missed by her son Dale (Roxana) of Lorain and grandchildren Chase, Tonya, Marc and Jennie, son Danny of Benson, N.C., son David (April) of Berlin Heights and grandchildren Jesse, Jeremy, Joey, Sarah and Tyler, son Gary of Raleigh, N.C. and grandchildren Doug, Tony, Shea and Ashley, daughter Sharon (Dean) Arroyo of Lorain and grandchildren Matt and Kyle, and son Eddie (Wendy) of Benson, N.C. and grandson Johnathan, 15 great-grandchildren and her sister Elizabeth Lucotch of Pennsylvania.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961 on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
