Lorain- Mary Josephine Sparaino, 87, passed away on April 14, 2011, at New Life Hospice in Lorain, OH.

Mary Jo  was born on May 12, 1923 to her loving parents, Louis and Mary (nee: Ferraro) Sparaino in Gangi, Sicily, Italy but she was a Lorain resident most of her life.   Mary Jo  was a member of St. Peter Church in Lorain, OH and she graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1941.  She was employed by Lorain Products where she retired at the age of 62.

She is survived by her sister, Connie (nee: Sparaino)  Butrey- Todarello of Lorain, OH;  sister-in-law, Betty Sparaino-Carasini; six nieces and nephews who affectionately called her Auntie Jo Jo, Barbara (Ken) Debo,  Karen(Steve) Stohla,  Ron Butrey,  Lew (Maggie) Sparaino  Bobby Sparaino and Doreen Hobbs; ten great nieces and nephews; and twelve great-great nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Mary Sparaino  and her brother, Tony Sparaino. 

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, OH (440) 244-1961 on Sunday, April, 17, 2011 from 2:00-6:00 PM. Closing prayers will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 8:50 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM, Monday, April, 18, 2011 at St. Peter Church, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, OH 44053, Fr. Craig Hovanec, officiating.
