Mr. Charles Cogdell

Amherst - Charles W. Cogdell, 78, beloved husband and father, passed away on November 17, 2016, peacefully in his sleep, at Main Street Care Center in Avon Lake, OH.

Chuck was born in Lorain, OH on October 26, 1938 to his loving parents, Victor and Margaret (nee Gammie) Cogdell.

He was a proud graduate of Lorain High School, Class of 1956-B. Following High School, Chuck attended Miami University before enlisting in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He returned home and married his love, Donna (nee Bliss) on November 11, 1961 and they raised three children, Vicki, Carri and Doug. Chuck had a long and successful career, working at Gross Plumbing and Hume Construction. He enjoyed drawing and creating paintings, traveling with his wife, following Cleveland sports teams, fishing and enjoying the outdoors, watching his grandchildren play sports, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Donna Cogdell; children, Carri (William Mroz) Schultz; Doug (Mary) Cogdell; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Vicki Thomas in 2014; his parents, Victor and Margaret Cogdell; and sister, Elizabeth Neverman.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961 on Friday, November 25, 2016 from 3:00 - 7:00 PM. Christian burial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, 44805 N Ridge Rd, Amherst, OH, Pastor Jimmy Madsen, officiating, where military honors will be performed by the Disabled American Veterans, Lois Proy Chapter 20 (meet at cemetery main entrance on Saturday).
